Job Description

Join a leading role as a 132kv engineer in the industrial and manufacturing sector. This position is based in Melaka for a renowned semiconductor player in the market.

• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of 132kv systems and associated equipment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all engineering activities.
• Provide technical support and solutions for any operational issues related to 132kv systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure project success.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and proposals.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure optimal system performance.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
• Act as a registered competent person under Electricity Supply Act 447 & Electricity Regulation 1994.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant electrical laws and regulations.
• Submit weekly Borang I reports to the Energy Commission (ST).
• Sign IOM agreements between owner and TNB.
• Perform weekly inspections of 132kV installations and report to ST.
• Oversee daily operations and preventive maintenance (PM) activities.
• Guide chargemen and engineers on electrical systems and risk assessments.
• Ensure maintenance programs meet legal and performance standards.
• Liaise with TNB, NLDC, GSO, ST, and local authorities for switching, outages, and shutdowns.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and internal teams.
• Assist in developing Emergency Response and Recovery Plans.
• Attend to power interruptions and breakdowns.
• Review and advise on Permit to Work and ensure safety compliance.
• Advise on design, commissioning, and optimization of electrical systems.
• Monitor alarms, update FMEA, and conduct electrical risk assessments.
• Review electrical installations including:

• High/Medium Voltage: 132kV & 11kV switchgears, transformers, relays, testing.
• Low Voltage: UPS, VFDs, ATS/CTTS, emergency generators, power studies.
• Contribute to green initiatives through energy and system optimization.
• Advise on improvements for CDA, HVAC, and other installations.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering registered with BEM.
• Registered professional Electrical Engineer with BEM including signing authority.
• Minimum of 10 years knowledge in Manufacturing industry and 5 years of knowledge in 132kV operations.
• Registered with Energy Commission of Malaysia as a 132kV Competent Engineer (JEK).
