The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial records of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role covers day-to-day accounting tasks, financial analysis, budgeting, and assisting management with financial decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting
Prepare and maintain full set of accounts (AP, AR, GL).
Record daily financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
Perform monthly and yearly closing activities.
Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.
Process invoices, payments, payroll, and claims.
2. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Generate management reports including cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet.
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
3. Taxation & Compliance
Handle tax submissions (SST, PCB, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, income tax).
Ensure timely regulatory filings with LHDN, SSM, and other authorities.
Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and government agencies.
4. Budgeting & Cost Control
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
Monitor expenditures and identify cost optimization opportunities.
Support management in financial planning and analysis.
5. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
Improve accounting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Job Requirements: Accountant
Education & Professional Qualifications
Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA membership) are an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 1-3 years of relevant working experience (for full-level accountants).
Fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (SQL, AutoCount, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
Advanced MS Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
