The Accounts & Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations of the EduGuru Group of Schools and its affiliated F&B business. This role ensures proper accounting, compliance, and financial control across multiple entities, maintaining efficiency while supporting sustainable growth. The position requires a strong understanding of both the
education and hospitality sectors
, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a small team handling day-to-day accounting and reporting.
Manage the full spectrum of accounting functions for all EduGuru schools and the restaurant, including general ledger, AR/AP, bank reconciliation, and month-end closing.
Prepare
monthly consolidated financial statements
, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports for each entity and group-level reporting.
Ensure accurate allocation of shared expenses between schools and restaurant entities.
Maintain strong internal controls and proper documentation of all financial transactions.
Support management with
financial analysis
, performance reviews, and profitability tracking by branch/business unit.
Present monthly management reports highlighting variances, trends, and recommendations.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with school principals and restaurant management.
Monitor performance against budgets; provide timely variance analyses and corrective recommendations.
Assist in long-term financial planning for expansion, capital investments, and cash flow projections.
3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Oversee daily cash flow operations across schools and restaurant outlets.
Maintain optimal cash levels, ensuring timely supplier and salary payments.
Manage bank relationships and negotiate banking facilities (e.g., loans, overdrafts, merchant services) when required.
Implement cost-saving and efficiency measures where applicable.
4. Accounts Receivable & Payable
Oversee student fee collections, deposits, refunds, and reconciliations across all schools.
Ensure all school fee payments are properly recorded and communicated to parents/branches.
Manage restaurant supplier invoices, petty cash, and stock-related payments.
Implement a clear
approval hierarchy
for all payments and maintain compliance with group policies.
5. Taxation & Compliance
Ensure compliance with
LHDN (Income Tax)

Company Act
requirements.
Oversee SST registration and reporting for entities where applicable (e.g., restaurant rent, taxable services).
Maintain and update all statutory filings, audit schedules, and ensure timely audit completion.
Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities as required.
6. Payroll & HR Coordination
Supervise payroll processing for all schools and restaurant staff, ensuring accuracy in attendance, allowances, and statutory deductions.
Coordinate with HR to maintain up-to-date employee records and manage performance-linked payouts or commissions.
7. Systems, Processes & Controls
Implement accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or SQL) and ensure consistent usage across entities.
Establish clear SOPs for accounting, approvals, and reporting.
Introduce monthly
internal audit checks
on cash handling, branch petty cash, and fee collections.
Ensure digital and physical filing systems are well-maintained for all entities.
8. Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor junior accountants or accounts executives at branches.
Foster a collaborative, accountable finance culture across the group.
Conduct training sessions on financial SOPs, cash management, and reporting for non-finance managers (e.g., branch heads).
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (professional certification like ACCA, CPA, or equivalent preferred).
Minimum
2 years of experience
in accounting and financial management, preferably with multi-entity exposure.
Experience in both
education and F&B
industries is an advantage.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, financial modelling).
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Knowledge of Malaysian tax laws, SST, and statutory compliance.
