Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounts & Finance Executive to manage the finance and accounting operations of Danai dive resort and group of businesses in Malaysia. This role is responsible for overseeing financial management, cost control, compliance with local statutory requirements, and supporting senior leadership with reporting, forecasting, and decision-making. Prior experience in hospitality or resort-based operations in Malaysia is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Financial Strategy & Oversight
Lead the resort's overall financial operations including budgeting, cash flow management, and reporting.
Provide financial insights to assist the General Manager / Director of Finance and owners in operational and investment decisions.
Establish, implement, and monitor financial controls and SOPs to support sound fiscal governance.
2. Accounting & Financial Reporting
Manage full-spectrum accounting functions: general ledger, monthly closings, journal entries, bank reconciliations.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports: Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements.
Ensure complete and accurate recording of income streams from accommodation, diving, F&B, retail, salon, spa and tours.
3. Budgeting & Cost Control
Lead the annual budgeting process and manage rolling forecasts.
Monitor operational expenses and identify cost-reduction opportunities across resort departments.
Track margins and profitability for key services (e.g. diving, excursions, packages).
4. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with all Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements including (not limited to):
o Sales & Service Tax (SST)
o Income Tax
o EPF, SOCSO, EIS (monthly payroll contributions)
o PCB (Potongan Cukai Berjadual) for employee income tax deductions
o e-Invoice
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and government authorities (LHDN, KWSP, PERKESO, etc.) for timely filing and resolution of issues.
Maintain readiness for audits and implement risk control mechanisms to safeguard assets.
5. Procurement, Inventory & Vendor Management
Review purchase requests, verify supporting documents, and approve payments within budget limits.
Monitor inventory for F&B, diving equipment, salon / spa and housekeeping supplies to prevent waste and improve cost efficiency.
Support procurement negotiations and maintain good supplier relationships.
6. Payroll & HR Financial Support
Oversee monthly payroll process including salaries, allowances, overtime, and statutory deductions.
Work with HR to ensure financial accuracy in staff contracts, benefits, and performance-based incentives.
Maintain detailed and compliant payroll records aligned with Malaysian labour law.
7. System Management & Team Supervision
Manage accounting software (e.g., SQL, Xero, QuickBooks) and ensure integration with POS and reservation systems (e.g., EzeeTechnosys)
Supervise junior finance/admin personnel (if applicable) and provide necessary training.
Monitor and optimise internal digital workflows and finance automation initiatives.
8. Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify and implement improvements in financial processes for increased accuracy and efficiency.
Generate financial reports for management including cash flow forecasts, expense summaries, and departmental financial health checks.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Member of, or actively pursuing, MIA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is an advantage.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably within resorts, hotels, or tourism-related businesses in Malaysia.
Strong understanding of Malaysian taxation, payroll, and statutory compliance requirements.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and reporting.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work in a dynamic, remote, island-based setting and handle operational challenges independently.
Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage.
Preferred but Not Mandatory
Familiarity with Malaysian hotel / resort-specific tools like eZeeTechnosys, Kakitangan, or dive shop POS systems
Experience managing businesses with multiple revenue streams (rooms, diving, F&B, salon, spa, tours).
Working Conditions
Office based, but may need to travel to resort. On-site accommodation may be provided.
Must be comfortable working flexible hours during reporting periods, month-end closing, and peak operational periods.
Willingness to adapt to island logistics, limited resources, and multitasking in lean teams.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,551.00 per month
