To implement all policies, activities, procedures, instructions as relevant and required by the quality system adopted by Allied Health Nursing which inclusive of Imaging, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine.
Responsible for providing quality nursing care and practice to patients in Allied Health Division
To welcome and greet patients, patient's relative and other customer coming to Imaging/ Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. Promote harmonious and effective work relationships within the unit and with the medical and auxiliary staff in co-coordinating patient total needs.
Capable and knowledgeable on procedures and services provided in Allied health division and able to attend to patient's need and enquiries independently.
To maintain the confidentiality of all patients' medical records.
To understand and practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
Assume responsibility for IV cannulation, venipuncture and assist in specialized procedure within the unit.
To draw blood samples as per requested by the consultants.
To assist the consultant in running a clinic session in Radiotherapy Department or any other clinics under Allied Health Division.
To observe radiation safety, self-protection and to use of PPE whenever necessary.
Assist receptionist in giving appointments for special exams and explanation of pre-exam preparation to patients, ward staff and clinic staff.
To check resuscitation equipment/emergency trolley in the department is in good working condition, drugs availability and within expiring period and to report at once to the department head on any faulty equipment.
To assist in emergency resuscitation procedures and keep up-to-date on CPR procedures.
Maintain accurate stock of all Imaging/Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine consumables, CSSD items and linen supplies in the department.
To demonstrate operational knowledge of nursing procedures applicable to area of assignment with minimal assistance from others.
To be responsible and able to play a trainer role for new SRN and Hospital Aide to prepare and assist and guide them with their responsibilities in the Allied Health Nursing.
To direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
To notify and assist doctors of any untoward patient's reaction to intravenous contrast injection or medication.
To complete documentation in a timely, accurate and concise manner in accordance with nursing policies and procedures.
To take and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and report to the attending radiologist / nuclear medicine physician for any abnormal findings without delay and take appropriate action as required.
To prepare and administer medications/ IV sedations and provide close monitoring according to the hospital policies and procedures.
To monitor patient's vital signs during treatment for patients with EWS score more than 3.
To assist patients who are not ambulatory as and when the need arises.
To ensure that controlled/DDA stocks are accurate and kept safe.
To assist in stock take activities within the department.
To conduct crash cart checks as assigned.
To maintain good public relations with patients, relatives, consultants, other departments staffs and the management team.
To assume On Call duties as per the roster.
Perform other related professional nursing duties as assigned within the department, other departments and hospital in general.
To report immediately any suspected equipment malfunction to the Unit Manager
IMAGING
Provide explanation and interview patients prior to investigations, e.g. LMP of female patients, check for allergies, ensure the radiologist have obtain the consent for special examinations and IV contrast.
To perform IV cannulation prior to CT and MRI contrast media, and radiotracer for PETCT scan.
To understand fully the role of PETCT SRN and ensure smooth flow of the patients.
Assist in interventional and special imaging examination e.g. biopsy, drainage, tapping, breast marking, PICC insertion, fiducial insertion, stereotactic biopsy, etc.
Preparation of trolley pre procedure and clearing and cleaning up of instruments after procedure.
To know the correct forms and workflow for all biopsy samples/specimens taken by radiologist and ensure biopsies sample are stored accordingly and send to the respective laboratory for analysis.
Preparation of intravenous (IV) contrast and other contrast media for special exams. E.g. CT scan and MRI.
Prepare and give oral contrast (and rectal contrast when necessary) to patient for CT abdomen/pelvis and CT stimulation cases.
Assist and chaperone the radiologist in ultrasound examinations.
To check patient blood glucose level for FDG PETCT scan.
To assist and monitor patients who undergo sedation or on oxygen throughout the procedure/scans/treatment done in Allied Health Division.
RADIOTHERAPY
To give orientation to patient on first day of radiotherapy treatment.
To advice patient on patient care for new case patients and to make sure of patient's compliance to the advice given.
To take and record patient's vital signs for patient undergoing SRS/SRT/SBRT treatment, weekly review patients and inpatients with EWS score more than 3 and report to the radiographers/consultants for any abnormal findings without delay and take appropriate action as required.
To prep patient before treatment (such as need to change attire, patient with bladder preparation, etc...)
To administer medication as prescribed by the consultant to radiotherapy patients.
To assist receptionist to register patients upon arrival to Radiotherapy Department and order (in Arcus / HIS system) appropriate procedure for the respective patient.
To assist receptionist to schedule patient's appointments for daily radiotherapy treatment and weekly review with their consultants.
To assist in any other receptionist roles in the absent of receptionist.
To assist and monitor patients who undergo sedation or on oxygen throughout the radiotherapy treatment session.

Participate in training and education programs.
To have valid BLS certificate.
To ensure the CPD points are sufficient for renewal of APC (Annual Practicing Certificate).
Requirement
Diploma in Nursing / Diploma in Medical Assistant
Valid LJM certificate / Valid LPPM Certificate
Valid APC
Have experience in a hospital setting / clinic
Fresh Graduate Staff Nurse / Medical Assistant also can apply
