FO Energy Risk & Accounting (ERA) consists of three key process areas - Manage Hydrocarbon Inventory (MHI), Trading Settlements, and Market Risk. The MHI process extends across many steps in the lifecycle of hydrocarbon stock in Group from recording contracts for purchases and sales of stock in our systems, recording stock movements, stock reconciliations, invoicing for stock sales and payments for stock purchases, through to stock valuation.

To ensure timely and accurate payment of Hydrocarbon Management\xe2\x80\x99s (HM) payables, and settlement of Hydrocarbon Management\xe2\x80\x99s receivables and to ensure timely and accurate recording and reconciliation of hydrocarbon stocks for relevant plants by validating all incoming and outgoing movements and posting the relevant book to physical loss/gain for month end closure. Provide proactively issue resolution to support E2E process and value chain in Hydrocarbon area. Deliver assigned activities and drive for operational excellence within the team.

What\xe2\x80\x99s the role?

  • Making sure payments and receipts follow our contracts.
  • Handling and processing Hydrocarbon invoices.
  • Solving problems related to Hydrocarbon Management payments and receivables.
  • Meeting payment and receipt deadlines without fail.
  • Recording manual journal entries according to FCM controls.
  • Reconciling relevant accounts using Blackline.
  • Following RDS / FCM controls as per control role mapping requirements.
  • Checking that all physical stock movements are accurately recorded before reconciliation.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Reconciling book vs. physical stocks regularly and on time.
  • Fixing discrepancies with figures from third-party depots.
  • Posting final stock differences as allowed by the Manual of Authorities (MoA) and GSAP/SOX 404 guidelines.
  • Preparing an overview of losses and gains for approval.
  • Managing the Stock Valuation & Margin Segmentation Team, including running stock valuation programs at month-end.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations monthly using the Blackline tool.
  • Logging manual journal entries in GSAP R/3.
  • Implementing financial controls to reduce financial reporting risks.
  • Properly documenting tasks in the Global Records Management System.
  • Providing timely, accurate, and professional information to stakeholders.
  • Identifying and helping develop solutions for issues affecting our operating units.
  • Applying the ESSA (Eliminate, Simplify, Standardize, Automate) mindset to simplify and improve processes.
  • Meeting the team\'s KPIs on time and accurately.
  • Ensuring compliance with RDS, Key Controls, and Non-Key Controls according to Shell Controls Framework.
  • Participating in external and internal projects/assignments, including timely deliverables, issue escalation, and managing expectations.
  • Supporting the team on Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Understanding how our process impacts the business and its steps.
  • Building in-depth knowledge of our business, processes, and market-specific information.
  • Meeting multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Strictly following FCM Controls for Group reporting.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
Role requirement
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting, preferably with professional certification (i.e. ACCA/CIMA/CPA, etc.)
  • Strong financial background and understanding of internal controls
  • Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in any Accounting-related field. (Understanding of SAP is an added advantage)
  • Strong adherence to processes, policies, and procedures
  • Good problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and inquisitive mindset
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) as well as interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Understanding of product measurement and accounting practices, inventory management, costing and impact on stock valuations is an added advantage
  • Capable of working under pressure and highly driven to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to integrate business and process knowledge
  • Ability to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of GSAP contracts, pricing and material movements, its relation to settlement process, the source, document flow & associated fields
  • Willing to work across time zones as needed
  • Ability to speak, read & write in English and Chinese. Proficiency in Cantonese would be an added advantage.
