Job Description


Qra is a start-up neighborhood grocer with a mission to make eating well and living well more accessible to the communities we serve.
As a Category Manager within Qra, you will be responsible for the development and growth of a product category. A team player, you will be required to build relationships with key department leads and maintain long term vendor relationship to ensure smooth and successful implementation of merchandise and buying objectives.

Responsibilities:
The day-to-day responsibilities for the Category Manager cover a wide span of activities. Here are some of the key areas:

  • The category manager is responsible for supporting the business in shaping the strategic direction of the branded trading offer and coaching the team to maximise short, medium, and longer-term deliverables.
  • Procure highest quality grocery at a price that meets the needs of both our customers and vendors.
  • Develop and implement category strategics to drive sales, profitability, improve product mix and quality and enhance overall customer experience.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to secure quality grocery, favourable pricing, product availability, and promotional support.
  • The category manager will typically manage larger turnover categories, including purchasing, ranging, and ongoing category management.
  • Develop and implement category plans (including supporting category buyers) to ensure delivery of sales, margin, and targets.
  • Build, manage, and maintain supplier relationships
  • Lead / support the relationship between trading and marketing to ensure we shape and deliver promotions and customer communications that maximize sales and future penetration / loyalty.
  • In conjunction with space planning, identify, develop and implement range, layout and opportunities that will maximize sales and customer impact.
  • Work closely with retail operations to ensure there is a strong understanding of category plans

; Requirements: - Requirements:
Experience and skills
  • Buying experience in Food business preferred
  • Category Management Experience with a food related knowledge in retail environment
  • High level of interpersonal, relationship management and team-working experience
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal and negotiating skills
  • Meticulous and has a keen eye for detail
  • Desire to grow individually and to learn how to best support other team members
  • Dynamic, resourceful and has passion for long-term career
  • Able to multi-task, work in fast-paced environment and has team leadership potential.

  • Innovative with a passion and love for to bringing products to our customers!
  • Genuine curiosity to know how things work and how to make them better
  • A self-starter, proactive and hands-on approach. End-to-end. Get things done right, and fast!
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and an ability to develop and maintain relationships
