Job Description

Job Purpose:



To assist the Group Managing Director in driving the overall business growth, expansion, and diversification strategies for the Group of Companies. The Assistant General Manager - Group Business Development is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, managing licensing and compliance matters, and ensuring smooth execution of new projects across various industries under the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning & Growth



Support the Group in formulating and implementing long-term business strategies and expansion plans. Conduct market research, business feasibility studies, and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities and risks. Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, and partnerships to expand the Group's business portfolio. Prepare business proposals, presentations, and project reports for top management and investors.

2. Business Development & Expansion



Identify and secure new business ventures, joint ventures, and partnerships in line with the Group's objectives. Develop business models and financial projections for proposed projects or subsidiaries. Drive expansion of existing business units, ensuring profitability and sustainability. Monitor business performance and ensure all ventures align with the Group's strategic direction.

3. Licensing, Regulatory & Compliance Management



Oversee and manage all business and operational licenses for the Group and its subsidiaries (e.g. SSM, DBKL, MOF, CIDB, MOTAC, MITI, or other relevant authorities). Ensure timely renewal, application, and compliance with licensing requirements across all industries. Liaise with government bodies, statutory agencies, and regulatory authorities for approvals, permits, and certifications. Maintain a centralized licensing database for the Group and ensure all records are accurate and up to date. Advise management on changes in regulations or policies that may impact the Group's operations or projects.

4. Relationship & Stakeholder Management



Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, government agencies, financial institutions, and vendors. Represent the Group in meetings, discussions, and negotiations to secure new contracts or partnerships. Coordinate with subsidiary companies to ensure alignment of goals and compliance with group policies.

5. Financial & Operational Oversight



Work closely with the finance team to evaluate project feasibility, ROI, and budget planning. Monitor and analyze financial performance of business units and new ventures. Ensure all new projects are executed efficiently and within approved timelines and budgets.

6. Leadership & Team Development



Lead and guide the business development and licensing teams in achieving departmental goals. Foster a proactive and accountable culture among team members. Provide training and mentoring to enhance the team's business, regulatory, and operational knowledge.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):



Growth in revenue and profitability from new ventures. Successful acquisition or renewal of company and project licenses. Timeliness and accuracy of compliance documentation. Number of new partnerships or projects secured. Improvement in operational efficiency and subsidiary performance.

Requirements:

Education:



Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, or related field. Master's Degree (MBA) is an advantage.

Experience:



Minimum 8-12 years of experience in business development, corporate management, or licensing-related functions, preferably within a group or diversified company structure. Proven record in managing multiple projects, government licensing, and regulatory compliance.

Skills & Competencies:



Strong business acumen, analytical and strategic planning skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. In-depth understanding of Malaysian regulatory frameworks and licensing requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and business presentation tools. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound business decisions.

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
