Job Description


Job Purpose

The role is to work closely with Business Units (\xe2\x80\x9cBU\xe2\x80\x9d) and other functional/support departments in Sime Darby Property (\xe2\x80\x9cSD Prop\xe2\x80\x9d) in delivering strategic planning and advisory, business performance monitoring and program management, support on high-impact growth / investment opportunities and operational/financial excellence to ensure alignment of corporate strategy with BU-level strategy and operating plans

Job Responsibilities

Corporate Planning

Group-wide Planning & Strategy

  • Formulation of corporate strategy & tactical plans and ensure cascading / alignment with businesses
  • Manage and coordinate yearly strategic business planning cycle processes group-wide
  • Recognise pertinent issues and red flags to ensure achievement of strategic and financial targets through monitoring, tracking and reporting performance of BUs, subsidiaries, JVs, associates, and other partnerships
  • Manage the review and drafting of GMC reports, Group Managing Director reports, Special Committee reports, Board of Directors reports (quarterly) and SD Prop Annual Report

Performance Management
  • Deploy and cascade balanced scorecards / KPIs in line with SD Prop\'s objectives and strategies to measure performance through suitable operational parameters / performance indicators
Programme Management
  • Assist to devise and recommend short to medium term strategic and/or tactical plans to drive financial and operational performance through key insights from analysis on performance reports
  • Provide support to BU / Group-level transformational projects as needed

General

Research & Value Add
  • Synthesise, maintain and ideate for better organisation knowledge of best practices and corporate strategy/planning insights & trends to elevate department capabilities to value-add to SD Prop
  • Develop and implement methods for benchmarking and generate actionable insights from analysis of industry, competitors and comparable companies to improve corporate performance for SD Prop and its Business Units
  • Serve as internal think tank when necessary to prepare various strategic papers / presentations / proposals for internal as well as external consumption and participate in other strategic cross-functional initiatives within SD Prop\'s group of companies in creating value for the company
People Development
  • Prepare individual development plan to map out career development and identify training needs for development of technical and soft skills of team members
  • Oversight and people management of team members under purview

  • Supports business units and/or other support departments in strategic decision making, planning and problem solving
  • Jointly accountable with business units to deliver company\'s performance targets
Education/Professional Qualification

Bachelor\'s Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or equivalent

Receipt of a professional certification in Real Estate, Accounting or Finance is an added advantage

Professional Experience

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience in real estate, strategy / management consulting and/or corporate finance / investment management

  • The Group and BU/OU/Support Department governance structure and process;
  • BU/OU/Support Department operating parameters;
  • Laws, rules and regulations impacting BU/OU/Support Department area of operations;
  • The Group\'s principles and requirements of the Group\'s Code of Business Conduct ("COBC"), Group Policies and Authorities (\xe2\x80\x9cGPA\xe2\x80\x9d) and related policies and procedures.
  • The basic application of risk management in the BU/OU/Support Department area of operations;
