Position Overview:

Assistant Manager - Haulage Operations

to support and oversee the daily execution of haulage services. This role is critical in managing container transport operations, optimizing truck utilization, and ensuring compliance with port and customs regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, operational knowledge of haulage and port systems, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:Daily Haulage Operations:

Assist in managing and coordinating all container haulage activities, including local and Free Zone deliveries and returns. Monitor daily truck movements to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries for both import and export shipments. Assign, dispatch, and monitor fleet schedules based on delivery priorities and customer requirements. Track delivery and collection status through GPS or transport management systems and provide updates to relevant departments.

Customer & Internal Coordination:

Liaise with internal departments (Forwarding, Customer Service, Warehouse) to ensure smooth coordination of container transport. Address customer inquiries or complaints related to delivery timings, empty returns, or delays. Work closely with the declaration and documentation teams to align haulage schedules with customs clearance and port gate-in/out requirements.

Fleet Management & Optimization:

Support the Haulage Manager in monitoring truck and driver utilization to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Monitor fuel consumption, toll usage, and routing to control operational costs. Ensure proper assignment of containers based on free days, port cut-off times, and customer delivery timelines.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure that all transport operations comply with road transport regulations, port authority requirements (LPK/PKFZ), and customs clearance rules. Monitor driver conduct, vehicle maintenance schedules, and safety standards. Assist in handling and resolving any transport-related incidents or accidents.

Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare daily and weekly operational reports, including truck utilization, delivery status, idle time, and delays. Analyze haulage performance data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Suggest improvements to streamline routing, reduce downtime, and enhance delivery performance.

Team Supervision & Development:

Supervise and guide transport coordinators, dispatchers, and drivers on operational matters. Provide training or briefings to drivers on route changes, delivery protocols, and safety guidelines. Support the Haulage Manager in staff evaluations and performance reviews.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or related field. Minimum

4-6 years of experience

in haulage or transport operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role. Strong knowledge of

container haulage procedures

, port operations, and Free Zone logistics (PKFZ, Northport, Westport). Familiar with port systems (e.g., JPPL, Terminal Operating Systems) and haulage scheduling tools. Able to interpret delivery timelines, port cut-off schedules, and container free days. Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and transport management software. Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to multitask and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. Strong communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Pay: RM4,800.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
