Job Overview
The Assistant Manager, Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant utilities and facilities. The role oversees daily maintenance activities, leads a technical team, supports cross-department operational needs, and drives preventive and major maintenance programs. This position also ensures compliance with safety standards, manages contractor performance, and implements cost-effective solutions to enhance overall plant performance.
Job Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe working environment for Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) personnel in compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations.
• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of key plant utilities and systems, including Thermal Oil Heater, Chiller Systems, Air Compressors, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Firefighting Equipment, Electrical, Facilities & Infrastructure.
• Interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other technical documents.
• Plan and coordinate daily and weekly operations of the M&E Department.
• Work closely with engineers, chargemen, and technicians to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with other departments (Production, Packing, Compounding, etc.) to meet operational plans.
• Promote cost-effective solutions within the department.
• Assist and guide engineers, chargemen, and technicians in resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
• Assist the HOD in developing short- to mid-term M&E plans and executing major maintenance overhauls and outages.
• Understand team members' skills and provide guidance, training, and leadership.
• Ensure availability of proper tools to improve maintenance efficiency.
• Review deficiencies from corrective maintenance and escalate issues to the appropriate PIC.
• Develop and execute plans for major maintenance overhauls and outages.
• Manage and monitor contractors' work quality.
• Maintain and advise on the use and disposition of stock and surplus items.
• Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental requirements related to the job and workplace.
• Perform other duties or projects assigned by the superior from time to time.

Qualifications & Experiences Needed

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools).
• Able to work independently with integrity and a strong sense of urgency.
• Willingness to work outside normal working hours.
• Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with all levels of staff.
• Result-driven and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
