We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Manager.

  • We have Global Custody HK, UK and Treasury Service Delivery in HSS City Office KL. GC UK is subdivided into 4 major regions namely Far East, Eurobonds, Euroclear & Africa and Americas. Each region provides Trade Processing and Settlements.
  • On the other hand, Global Custody HK is subdivided into 3 functions namely Trade Processing, Settlements and Support & Reconciliation which provide services across America, Europe & Africa, MENA and Asia Pacific markets:
  • Trade Processing handle exceptions and manual instructions. They are responsible in ensuring all trades are executed in the market in a timely manner.
  • Settlements is managing unmatched and failing trades in the market. They handle all follow ups and find all possible rectifications to ensure trades are settled successfully.
  • Support & Reconciliation performs the reconciliation for the business and ensures that both custody and Accounting and Valuation (A&V) records tally. On top of that the team Produces report, perform AWD indexing & OBS cash posting when needed.
The Opportunity:
  • As a member of the Global Custody Hong Kong family, you will be learning about the trade instruction and settlement cycle for every markets that we are serving, be it Asia, Europe, MENATs and US. There are 3 sub functions in GC HK, trade processing, settlements, and support & reconciliation.
  • In trade processing, the team is receiving trade instruction from client via 3 main channels, file upload via CE server, swift and fax. From there, you will need to capture this information into the Custody and/or Accounting platform. Upon complete capture, the record will be checked and authorized before released to market for settlement.
  • In settlements, the team is monitoring trade status and advising clients, internal team and/or agents on trades that have been released to the market for settlement, depending on the updates received from agents. The team will also handle exceptions by manually updating trade status if rejected by system.
  • In support and reconciliation, the team is processing exceptions for cash posting and funding due to trade settlement needs. The team will also perform investigation on recon breaks assigned to GC HK Settlements, be it cash or stock breaks.
  • The team is using email as communication channel with client services, agents, and internal team (such as IT support, static data team and etc). Ad-hoc tasks are assigned to the staff, based on their competency and as part of grooming them for career growth. You are responsible for work queue monitoring and to perform completeness checking on the work queues and tasks of the team. Should there be new staff on boarded, you will be assigned to train the staff, ensuring he/she is meeting the competency as well as progress update reporting to the manager.

  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • To implement the Group Compliance Policy as applicable to your role in conjunction with the relevant Compliance Department. The term \xe2\x80\x98compliance\xe2\x80\x99 embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply within Malaysia and in relation to the countries migrating work to the assigned GSC
  • To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies
  • Problem situations are proactively identified, resolved and escalated to give maximum customer satisfaction. Appropriate measures are taken to improve quality and prevent recurrence
  • Customer issues are handled sensitively and receive full consideration. Situations are resolved effectively retaining goodwill of customer and customers are kept fully informed on the progress.
  • Ensure individual quality targets ar e achieved. Issues/problems are fully analyzed and resolved or escalated. Appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence.
  • All MI data requirement (timesheets, leave requests, absence requests and ad hoc process information) are completed and updated in a timely manner to assist colleagues in HDPM and the Business areas to meet their SLAs.
  • By adhering to the Group\xe2\x80\x99s agreed processes / procedures \xe2\x80\x93 achieving a satisfactory Audit report.
  • Training of new staff, inclusive of discussion and reporting of the progress with manager.
  • Queue/task monitoring and completeness checking, to ensure work is being done on timely manner.
  • All MI data requirement (timesheets, leave requests, absence requests and ad hoc process information) are completed and updated in a timely manner to assist colleagues in HDPM and the Business areas to meet their SLAs.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role?
  • Requires strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Must possess good command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Flexible in shift rotation and working days
  • Team player and self-motivated
  • Good presentation/training skill
  • Good command of Microsoft Office software (Excel / Word / PowerPoint)
  • Eye for details and high accuracy on data inputted into system
Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting.
