Job Description

The Assistant Safety and Security Manager will support the Safety and Security Manager in overseeing all aspects of the resort's safety, security, and loss prevention programs. The primary focus is to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant environment for all guests, employees, and resort assets, in line with PARKROYAL's standards and Malaysian laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, Fire Safety).

Key Responsibilities



1. Security and Loss Prevention Operations



Assist in the day-to-day management of the Security team, including scheduling, supervision, and performance monitoring to maintain professional standards. Conduct regular, thorough patrols of all resort areas (interior, exterior, public, and restricted) to deter criminal activity, identify hazards, and ensure security protocols are followed. Oversee the functionality and proper operation of all security systems, including CCTV, alarm systems, fire detection systems, and access control. Enforce key control procedures, and asset removal policies, and manage the lost and found process efficiently and securely. Conduct initial investigations into all security incidents, accidents, guest/employee complaints, and potential loss incidents, preparing detailed and accurate reports for management and, where necessary, law enforcement.

2. Safety and Health Compliance



Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring the resort's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) programs to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Fire Services Act (FMA), and local Melaka regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all departments, and monitor the hazard abatement process to promptly resolve any unsafe conditions or acts. Ensure all fire and life safety equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and certified, liaising with the Engineering department and local fire authorities (BOMBA*).
Coordinate and manage emergency preparedness procedures, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid programs for guests and employees. Act as a key member of the resort's Emergency Response Team.

3. Training and Communication



Assist in the development and delivery of comprehensive safety and security training programs for all new and existing employees. Conduct specialized training for the Security team on patrol techniques, incident response, investigation, report writing, and customer service. Maintain a cooperative relationship with local law enforcement, fire authorities, and other government agencies on all safety and security matters. Liaise with Department Heads to promote a resort-wide culture of shared responsibility for safety and security.

4. Administrative and Management Support



Maintain all security and safety records, logs, certifications, and documentation as required by law and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assist the Safety and Security Manager with administrative duties, including budget control, scheduling, and management of security contractors/vendors. Handle guest and employee complaints related to security matters with professionalism, composure, and discretion.

Qualifications and Requirements



Diploma or Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field. Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in a supervisory or assistant managerial role within a hotel or resort security/loss prevention department. Possession of a recognized

Safety and Health Officer (SHO)

or

Site Safety Officer (SSO)

certification is highly advantageous. Certified in First Aid, CPR, and Fire Fighting. Thorough knowledge of Malaysian security, fire, and occupational safety legislation (e.g., OSHA, Fire Services Act). Proficiency in operating and monitoring modern security technology, including CCTV and alarm systems. Excellent communication (written and verbal in English and Bahasa Malaysia), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team effectively. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required by a 24/7 resort operation.

Pay: RM3,391.07 - RM4,500.00 per month
