I. JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Teacher is an important member of the AISM teaching team, and plays a critical role in ensuring all students are able to access our outstanding academic and co-curricular programs. The Assistant Teacher generally assists teachers to meet the range of needs of students but will be called upon to teach small and large groups of students independently as required. This position reports to the Deputy Head of School, however, this responsibility may be delegated to another senior staff member for day to day matters.
II. KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
A. CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
Work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to support student learning.
Work with individual students and small groups within the classroom under the direction of Homeroom or Specialist teachers.
Provide additional support for whole class activities under the supervision of the teacher.
Assist teaching staff to plan, prepare and deliver individualised programs for students who require additional assistance and support.
Fill in for absent staff as required.
Assist teaching staff on excursions and activities.
B. ADMINISTRATIVE/ORGANISATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Assist in the development of classroom resources.
Assist with the organisation of school events eg. Assemblies, Productions, Speech Day etc.
C. SCHOOL DUTIES
Assist with student supervision.
Supervise parent pickup, bus lines and playground areas as part of a roster of duties.
Take an active role in the School\'s Co-Curricular Program including school camps.
Assist at special events and functions within the school such as International Day, Special Assemblies (Chinese New Year, Anzac Day, Deepavali, Hari Raya, Christmas and International Day) as appropriate.
III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
Candidate must possess at least a Diploma in Education and significant experience or a Bachelor\'s Degree in Education or relevant discipline.
B. RELATED EXPERIENCE
Previous working experience in a school is desirable.
C. COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
Possess excellent English speaking and writing skills. Ability to read to students in English.
Proven ability to demonstrate initiative.
D. COMPETENCIES (BEHAVIOURAL)
Pleasant disposition and friendly.
A good team player.
Applicants must be Malaysian citizens or hold relevant residence status.
IV. OTHER DUTIES
