We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President.

Issuer Service provides trustee and agency services across a wide range of products, including Escrows, Project & Export Finance, Securitization, Loans and Debt programmes.

Our proposition enables clients to pursue international capital market activities: we expedite movements of cash and securities, protect the rights of interested parties and we assist our colleagues in GBM/CMB with the identification of ISV solutionns to meet client requirements.

Corporate Trust team authorize/validate/monitor and ensure the processing and administration of all types of Bonds where HSBC acts as the Issuing and Paying agent. Loan Agency team authorize/validate/monitor the full range of administrative duties of servicing a deal, as well as gaining exposure to a variety of syndicated facility types. Business support / management team is responsible for reconciliation, static data maintenance, user access management and call-back.

The Opportunity:

To manage the ISV Operations in Kuala Lumpur for UK jurisdictions, where we provide operational support within the Global Service Centre framework in Malaysia.

  • Accountable for Loan Agency Operations, and Ancillary functions, offshored from UK.
  • Building and maintaining a scalable end to end ISV process to support overall aspirations of the business.
  • Responsible for entity and functional management of 40+ staff based offshore in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Management of operational processes and control function to meet or exceed service level and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for continuous process improvement of existing processes, migration of new functions from the onshore business partner and driving efficiencies of a new system
What you\'ll do:

Financial
  • Manage the annual budget and operate in line with the Annual/Rolling Operating Plan for ISV in KL
  • Deliver to the year on year sustainable cost saves targets.
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain effective relationship with business partners, global product function, and counter-part for ISV UK, in order to stay close to operational service requirements, identify areas of service improvement and standardized processes
Process

Co-ordination & Governance
  • Establish and maintain appropriate operational governance structure across the offshored Loans functions.
  • Ensure most appropriate organizational structures, systems, procedures and controls are utilized in support of HSS business. Implement change as necessary to realize process improvement or enhanced product offering.
  • Implement effective management and performance reporting to monitor SLA and regulatory standards and ensure appropriate metrics are in place to meet these.
  • Actively participate in system upgrade reviews/projects and recommend enhancements to improve automation and enhance the service offering.
Audit & Control
  • Implement an effective control and risk management framework across operational disciplines.
  • Implement strong risk management environment to negate operational losses, regulatory breaches and potential fraud.
  • Execute an effective business contingency plan in line with group policies and business partner requirements.
People
  • Recruit and retain the best people to support business goals and objectives.
  • Motivate team performance through effective communication and implementation of best practice to achieve department and business goals.
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)
  • To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.
  • Awareness of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Ensure compliance with GSM, FIM and BIM\xe2\x80\x99s
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Qualifications
  • University degree level, or equivalent practical experience / maturity.
  • Business Management and/or additional certifications in Finance would be preferred.
Professional Skills & Experience
  • Extensive working experience in the securities industry, to include:
  • Knowledge of inter-bank offered rate based loan administration
  • Knowledge of bond, notes and depository / calculation services would be preferred
  • Management position with exposure to business partners across multiple geographical locations
  • Proven experience in managing medium to large teams
  • Prior experience in syndicated loan operations would be preferred
Personal Skills & Qualities
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in English, both oral and written
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills
  • Proven ability to execute and deliver change, within an operational context.
  • Effective leadership with requisite interpersonal skills necessary to direct and motivate a large team to achieve results
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain global and regional relationships at all business levels
  • Strong collaborative management skills with the various stakeholders
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.

Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
