Overview

We are currently seeking a lawyer to join HireRight\xe2\x80\x99s in-house global Legal team to provide general compliance support to the HireRight group companies in EMEA, India and APAC region with a focus on privacy. This individual will be required to work on a variety of matters in support of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s expanding global business, focusing primarily on the matters listed below under \xe2\x80\x9cAccountabilities.\xe2\x80\x9d Candidates should have at least 3 years or more PQE, with relevant experience, ideally working for both a law firm and an in-house legal team. Experience in a regulated industry is a plus.

The role demands a high level of attention to detail and time management skills to meet strict deadlines, and the ability to communicate and build relationships with internal clients at all levels across HireRight\xe2\x80\x99s network of offices, as well as with HireRight\xe2\x80\x99s external clients. The individual should be able to work autonomously, but also enjoy working in a small legal team environment and must show a high level of pro-activeness, drive, self-sufficiency, common business sense, self- motivation, and thrive on the challenges that this role presents.

Responsibilities

  • Answering general legal enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders relating to privacy legislation across the region
  • Monitoring developments in privacy laws across the region and preparing briefing notes for internal stakeholders
  • Review of policies to support HireRight\xe2\x80\x99s privacy framework with particular focus on localisation.
  • Providing support on customer audit calls covering relevant privacy sections
  • Providing support to the Go to Market team on customer calls where privacy expertise is needed.
  • Review of privacy related contractual documents such as contractual clauses for the transfer of personal data and/or data processing agreements.
  • Production of privacy collateral to support the Go to Market team.
  • Partnership with the HireRight product team to review new products being developed across the region.
  • Answering other legal-related questions across the HireRight group companies and providing ad-hoc support to the business as and when required.
  • The successful candidate will support HireRight\xe2\x80\x99s International development and strategic project activities, including acting as legal team leader on specific projects, troubleshooting when difficult or sensitive issues arise, and acting as a resource for legal teams in other HireRight group companies.
Qualifications
  • Strong academic background with at least 3 years PQE in private practice and in-house roles.
  • Previous experience gained within in a reputable international law firm and preferably also in an in-house legal role responsible for data privacy and compliance. Experience in the background screening industry and/or other regulated industry ideal, but not required.
  • Experience in working in an environment focussed on best practice privacy principles as well as specific exposure and expertise in specific privacy laws (such as GDPR, Singapore PDPA and/or Australian Privacy Act) is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word.
  • Professional and commercial approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and team work ethic.
  • Ability to communicate to employees across the organisation with impact.
  • Ability to research and answer complex legal questions effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Ability to travel.
