Complete calculations and test, va Job Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer develops new mechanical systems/modules and maintains existing designs. Research mechanical concepts and create system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software. Complete calculations and test, validate, and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the mechanical system that they have designed. Detailed Description: Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Work independently to design and develop technical solutions without assistance in a limited number of technical fields supporting common segments/technologies. May also solve complex problems in cooperation with a team of other engineers. Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to design a control system that will enable the system to perform its intended function safely and reliably. Attend and interact in technical customer meetings. Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs. Analyze engineering drawings, and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products. Prepare calculations on the proposed solution before completing technical drawings Develops new product prototypes to validate automation and product designs meets performance requirements, quality, and cost goals Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. Sketch and draw up designs using input from other engineers, requirements and input from design review (DFx) team. Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards while meeting material budget constraints. Submit drawings to management, engineering teams and customers for review. Use customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve or repair the company's existing machines Provide support during the manufacturing process Finalize designs and send prints to the production department. Promote a positive professional image of Celestica internally and externally.
