Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Barista to join our modern heritage cafe. The ideal candidate must have solid hands-on experience with espresso machines, strong understanding of coffee extraction, and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality beverages. This role requires someone who is confident, responsible, and takes pride in both coffee craft and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare espresso-based drinks, hand-brew coffee, and cafe beverages according to our standards. Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment with proper calibration. Ensure consistency in taste, texture, temperature, and drink presentation. Manage bar cleanliness, workstation organisation, and hygiene at all times. Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service. Monitor stock levels for coffee beans, milk, and bar ingredients; assist with inventory control. Train junior baristas (if required) on basic coffee skills and cafe procedures. Follow cafe SOPs, maintain quality standards, and support overall cafe operations. Handle simple cashiering and order-taking when necessary.

Requirements:

Minimum 1-2 years experience as a Barista in a cafe or restaurant setting. Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and drink standards. Able to dial-in grinders and maintain consistency throughout the shift. Good communication skills and customer-friendly attitude. Responsible, punctual, well-groomed, and able to work clean and organised. Passionate about coffee and committed to improving skills.
