Job Description

Requirements: * BSc. (with a minimum of 12 months of relevant working experience) or MSc. (with at least one peer-reviewed journal publication) in genetics, applied microbiology/pathology and plant physiology or equivalent. * Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.70. Responsibilities: * Support the development, establishment and performing of RT-PCR and qPCR-based methods for gene expression studies and will involve transcriptome data extraction and high throughput data handling. * Coordinate appropriate nursery trials for disease screening, ensure correct plant parameters are measured and facilitate high throughput traits analysis. * Facilitate the maintenance of fungal culture collection, species identification and microscopy analysis. * Communicate findings to both scientific and non-scientific communities. * Maintain excellent laboratory functionalities in terms of environment, hygiene, biosafety and biosecurity. Additional Notes / Skills: * Deep scientific and technological knowledge in genetics, molecular biology, plant disease and physiology. * Candidates with 1 to 2 years of recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience would be an advantage. * Good organisation skills and capacity to prioritise.A * Good command of written and spoken skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
