Job Description

The Building Lighting Engineer is responsible for the design, development, coordination and implementation of lighting systems for commercial, residential and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities

Develop lighting layouts, plans, and specifications for building projects. Calculate lighting levels, uniformity, glare and energy usage using industry-standard tools (e.g., Dialux, Relux). Select appropriate lighting fixtures, control systems and technologies (LED, sensors, smart lighting, etc.). Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOQs, technical specifications and design reports. Review electrical and architectural drawings to integrate lighting systems effectively. Provide design revisions based on client feedback or site conditions. Coordinate with M&E engineers, architects, interior designers and contractors. Participate in site meetings and design workshops. Conduct site inspections to ensure proper installation of lighting systems. Troubleshoot lighting installation issues and provide technical solutions. Oversee testing, commissioning and verification to ensure designs are correctly implemented. Ensure all lighting designs comply with local building codes, energy codes, safety standard and green building requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field. 2-5 years experience in lighting design, building services engineering or M&E engineering. Strong understanding of lighting technologies, optics, controls and electrical integration. Knowledge of lighting standards (IES, CIBSE, EN, local codes).

Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
