Position Overview Working closely with the Regional Underwriting Operations and IT teams, this role will work with the Product lead and align regional efforts to manage product development under the NEXUS Program. This role is responsible for managing regional requirements as an input into the development and maintenance of global underwriting standards, process, and systems oversight to adequately support all lines of business and future developments in underwriting. You will have the ability to leverage process improvement methodologies through a significant period of business transformation. The role requires an end to end \'big picture\' view of the program\'s goals, with an ability to negotiate, facilitate and bring about consensus with stakeholders from multiple markets and disciplines. Responsibilities Solid all-round business analysis skillset with a focus on gathering and documentation requirements. Engage with stakeholders from various business units to identify and solve business process and data problems, determine business requirements and document findings. Work in collaboration with the Regional Underwriting Operations and IT teams to: Gather requirements Develop user stories and acceptance criteria Inputs into the product backlog Perform testing Coordinates local business testing Work in close collaboration with the Core working group, Development team and other key stakeholders. Collaborate with Scrum Master to participate in agile ceremonies (stand-up, refinement, retrospective) and regular update meetings. Maintain appropriate technical product knowledge and functional expertise to represent the global user group and to maximize the value of the delivered product. Track progress and accountability for all versioning and releases to meet agreed business objectives. Contribute to the development and maintenance of regional underwriting standards and governance procedures, including but not limited to: The end-to-end underwriting related process, risk controls and systems to support all RGA business lines Compliance with relevant global and local regulations (e.g., OFAC, SOX, Data Privacy etc.) that impact the underwriting process Individual Underwriting Authority Limits, parameters, and system controls Oversee and confirm the business requirements and development needs for the future global underwriting platform are met. Collaborate with global peers, regional and local underwriting heads, and their teams to ensure their needs and requests are triaged, prioritized, and delivered in a consistent and coordinated manner. Proactively drive programs to address appropriate data, process risk controls and systems improvements. Foster a productive spirit of cooperation, coordination, and dialogue among Global, Regional and Local Offices. Utilize knowledge and expertise in the development of global underwriting operations, programs, strategic plans, goals, and objectives to ensure consistency and compliance among all offices. Embrace a high level of change with competing internal customer expectations in a highly customer-focused environment. Proactively enforce and advance best practices, policies, and guidelines. Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, trends, and applications. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education And Experience Required: Relevant Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent related work experience 7+ years\' experience of business analysis experience on IT projects Experience with Agile development methods Occasional travel in the region may be required Preferred: Broad knowledge of insurance/Reinsurance, underwriting and/or international business Additional language abilities other than English (Chinese, Japanese or Korean), a distinct advantage Additional language abilities other than English (Chinese, Japanese or Korean), a distinct advantage Skills And Abilities Required: Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. The ability to influence and work collaboratively with development teams is especially important. Excellent understanding of underwriting standards, risk controls, quality, and risk assurance principles, as well as, Underwriting, E-Underwriting, and Medical Directors roles. Demonstrable understanding of the broader reinsurance business - including pricing, product, treaties, retro, claims and administration considerations and how they interrelate with underwriting. Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and to maintain and implement processes and procedures globally. Demonstrable and in-depth understanding of differences in underwriting practices, processes, and systems globally. Advanced MS Office skills and ideally some experience with SQL. Basic experience on design tools like Figma or Adobe XD Ability to comprehend and interpret insurance and contract documents. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates. Excellent persuasion skills when working with internal partners and external customers to resolve issues/problems. Expertise in implementing change, ensuring understanding, participation, and ownership. Highly advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines and internal resources. Well organized with ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities. Expert ability to analyze and recommend improvements to business processes.
