Job Description

The client is seeking a highly autonomous Business Development Manager to spearhead growth within the global transport and distribution sector. This role is tasked with addressing complex, multi-dimensional challenges while driving revenue across several business verticals.
Strategic Commercial Growth

  • Independently identify and capitalize on market opportunities to grow the company's market share, ensuring alignment with broader corporate strategies.
  • Cultivate and manage strategic client relationships to maximize commercial opportunities, including cross-selling the full organization portfolio (Trade, Value-Added Services, Intermodal, Logistics, and Digital Solutions).
  • Conduct continuous market analysis (e.g., budget performance, market share, and customer trends) to inform and support management-level strategic decision-making.
Market Expansion and Feasibility
  • Lead comprehensive business development initiatives by conducting feasibility studies and developing proposals for maritime service expansion, focusing initially on East Malaysia.
  • Assess and propose new opportunities across intermodal, Value-Added Services, logistics, and eCommerce activities via detailed infrastructure and market viability studies.
  • Initiate, negotiate, and formalize external corporate partnerships that deliver long-term strategic value and represent the company at industry events to gather market intelligence and enhance brand visibility.
Agency Network and Operational Oversight
  • Provide strategic oversight and management for the third-party agency network in EAST, ensuring adherence to sales targets and high customer service standards.
  • Supply management with analytical reports on logistics equipment and terminal operations to facilitate proactive problem-solving and operational improvements.
Stakeholder and Institutional Influence
  • Develop and strengthen institutional relationships with local authorities to ensure the organization's presence and regulatory influence.
  • Establish and maintain a strategic stakeholder network (including forwarders, terminals, government entities, and potential investors) to facilitate complex collaborations and position the organization as a key market leader.
International Exposure High-Impact Industry
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent diploma) combined with five years of proven sales experience specifically within the shipping and logistics industry.
  • Commercial & Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated strong commercial leadership and management capabilities. Must be a highly professional, autonomous, and results-driven individual with the ability to proactively drive initiatives and successfully engage key stakeholders.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, and presentation, coupled with strong analytical abilities. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Logistical & Language Requirements: Must be willing to travel and possess personal transportation. Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential, and proficiency in Chinese is an asset.
