Markets and Securities Services Operations is responsible for driving every part of the trade lifecycle post execution. Its global teams manage settlement activity, risk and control, while ensuring the delivery of regulatory compliance and seamless operational client service across 60 countries.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role as a Business Manager, Equities, Global Debt Markets and Securities Financing Operations.

The Opportunity:

The role provides business management support in Equities, GDM and Securities Financing Operations covering financial and headcount management, staff engagement and enablement, vendor and supplier management, strategy implementation as well as other business advisory services when required. The role is expected to work closely with the global operations leadership team as well as other business stakeholders to support our growth and transformation agenda. The role will be based in Malaysia Global Service Center and provide coverage to all 4 Trading Hubs as well as the offshore locations.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

  • Tracks, understands and communicates cost and headcount movements to the relevant stakeholders across the region.
  • Ensures a fair and transparent cost recharge model to the business lines we support.
  • Contributes to strategic programme by closely tracking benefit realisation and challenge any deviation to plan.
  • Promotes process efficiency and drive best practice sharing across the region.
  • Drives our Location Strategy to provide best-in-class client services at an optimal cost base and ensure proper governance to track performance.
  • Drives our people agenda to support a fair and inclusive working environment.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Strong understanding on Operations processes and product knowledge on businesses we support.
  • Sharp business and commercial acumen with strong analytical skill and critical thinking.
  • Ability to challenge status quo and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and visual presentation skills; able to convey abstract business idea into plan.
  • Ability to identify, manage and mitigate risk effectively; strong awareness on conduct-risk and other non-financial risk elements applicable to Operations.
  • Strong problem solving capability, able to multi-task well under pressure and in times of ambiguity. Organised with systemic approach to programme execution
What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Experience in Business Management / COO function with international financial institutions.
  • Accounting, financial budgeting, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Project management experience with strong track record of successfully implementing large scale change programmes.
  • Experience in managing outsourcing and vendor/supplier relationship.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language.
  • Understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives, particularly in the risk environment.
  • Proven ability in coordinating geographically dispersed teams
