Objectives of the Position

  • Identifies partners\' requirements, generates the necessary understanding of the serviced businesses and takes care of a good cooperation by frequent exchange. Continuously ensures high quality of services in line with SLA, handling of ad-hoc requests and offering customized solutions.
  • Shifts internal focus to partner view (listen to partners, recognize needs and provide specific solutions on tactical level)
  • Creates end-to-end process understanding by connecting the dots and live this for partners\' benefit
  • Bears the overall responsibility for compliant and efficient fulfillment of team\'s tasks by building and safeguarding required competencies in the team. Settles (technical) standards, ensures their communication and that they are adhered to.
  • Disciplinary leadership including work allocation, target agreements, performance evaluation and continuous feedback. Takes or initiates decisions within his / her disciplinary responsibility. Plans and organizes team resources including budget, defines recruiting measures and initiates them.
  • Develops employees starting from the identification of development needs, followed by agreement, execution and evaluation of appropriate measures. Identifies and appoints potential candidates. Enhances awareness and employees\' interest for their professional development.
  • Initiates and steers team-internal projects for development and optimization of service processes. Contributes with own resources to further projects. Uses digital technologies to enhance value creation.
  • Creates an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
  • Collaborate with Book-to-report teams across regions on operational topics as well as projects
Main Tasks

Functional Tasks (Inclusive but not limited)
  • Ensure monthly and year end closing and reporting activities are performed timely, accurately and follow BASF guidelines and work instructions in the area of:
  • Product costing & inventory valuation
  • Project Accounting
  • Cost Center Accounting & Profitability analysis
  • Non-trade Business transactions
  • Reporting & BI Solutions
  • To act as business partner to BASF\'s internal stakeholders to identify, evaluate and implement solutions
  • To perform business analysis and provide advice to stakeholders and controlling units
  • To establish good interpersonal relationships by helping team members feel valued, appreciated and aware of business performance
  • To act as mentor to Senior analysts and Analysts to encourage good practice, team spirit and a quality-orientated approach
  • To drive team motivation and morale
  • To act as backup for Director and to perform other duties as and when delegated
Service Management
  • To ensure operations in accordance with the Service Level Agreement by providing a timely and accurate service
  • To ensure customer queries and ad-hoc requests are attended and resolved timely, in a responsible and proactive manner
  • To monitor Service Level Agreements, Balance Scorecard and KPIs, to ensure continues improvement in operations and services
  • To support for charging mechanisms for the services provided
Resource Management
  • To allocate resources and responsibilities to deliver high quality and compliant services
  • To recruit in line with budget, ensuring that candidates chosen meet requirements and have further development potential
  • Develops employees by identification of their strengths and development needs, agreement on development measures as well as their implementation and result validation (BASF Employee Development). Raises employee\'s awareness and interest in personal and professional development
  • To conduct regular team meetings and individual reviews to ensure group and/or individual\'s issues are recognized and resolved in a timely and orderly manner
  • Bears responsibility for FTE budget of own team
Professional Guidance
  • Guide, support and lead the work of Business Reporting team members
  • Establish goals and KPI\'s for each team member and evaluates performance throughout the year
  • Provide feedback and reinforcement to Business Reporting team members regarding development needs and opportunities and secure resources to support development efforts
Compliance
  • To manage and participate in any compliance audits
  • To ensure all documentations and processes are updated and compliant
  • To enforce compliance to BASF guidelines and policies, Financial Reporting Compliance requirements, local regulation and statutory requirements
Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • To identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement measures in consultation with Subject Area Lead
  • To support standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools
Knowledge Management
  • To support in ensuring proper and consumable documentation of knowledge
  • To ensure effective knowledge transfer & sharing as for a sustainable development of knowledge within the team
Others
  • To support the implementation of continuous improvement measures, Internal Control Requirements and any other project roll outs
  • To contribute and support team strategic plan and objectives
Requirements

Education
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent
Working Experience
  • Minimum 7 years\' experience in Finance & Accounting or Controlling function
  • Experience in a Shared Services or Business Process Outsourcing engagement will be an advantage
Technical & Professional Knowledge
  • Experience with Controlling/Finance tools and KPIs
  • Experience working with SAP ERP and / or SAP BW tools is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of MS office tools.
  • Proficiency in English and other languages as required with good communication skills.
