Objectives of the Position

  • To deliver Business reporting services to BASF\'s internal customers, in accordance with established Business reporting processes and work procedures
  • To design and implement reporting and analytical solutions.
  • To turn data into value that can be used to make sound business decisions.
Main Tasks

Functional Tasks (Inclusive but not limited):
  • Delivery of assigned reporting operations consisting of daily and monthly reports to the BU controlling stakeholders within agreed time and quality
  • Updating/adjusting report/dashboard templates and maintaining queries (in case of changes in reporting or business organization).
  • Structure and reconcile basic data in preparation for further processing and report/dashboard generation, ensure data quality and consistency (give meaning to data).
  • Manage timely completion of financially oriented reports/dashboard based on standards or business-specific requirements.
  • Resolve and clarify issues directly with controlling counterparts/business partner in continuous and close interaction.
  • Dashboard creation or development by using business analytics/data visualization tools to simplify data preparation, produce interactive visualization reports and drive ad hoc analysis.
  • To identify, drive and lead optimization and improvement potential in reports, processes and existing BI. Plan and coordinate implementation of improvement measures in close cooperation with Experts and business partners.
  • Collaborate with team to integrate system and educate/train and share knowledge to the users.
Service Management:
  • To perform tasks in accordance with the service management framework, by providing a timely and accurate service.
  • To ensure customer queries are attended and resolved timely, responsible and proactive manner.
  • To ensure all tasks are processed within agreed service timeline.
Quality and Continuous Improvement:
  • To identify, recommend and implement solutions in consultation with Senior Manager, Manager, Regional Process Expert, Subject Matter expert lead for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • To support standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools.
Knowledge Management:
  • To conduct functional training and contribute in training materials preparation in accordance with the established training framework
  • To support in establishing a knowledge database, also of work problems encountered and steps for resolution to facilitate continuous learning, development and cross sharing of knowledge throughout Business reporting team. This is including to document any exceptions to the country\'s end to end process, carry out post mortem for each month end in preparation of Team or Departmental meeting.
  • To ensure update changes to process documentation as and when required.
  • To support new and existing team members through proper knowledge transfer; and sharing of best practice thereby ensuring quality is maintained through if staff transition.
Others:
  • To contribute and support Business reporting Senior Manager, Manager, Regional Process Expert and Subject Matter Expert Lead in the implementation of project initiatives.
  • To collaborate and support local counterpart team, service management team, regional and country controllers, plant personnel and other Finance service work streams.
  • To drive in transition and migration projects, and support team strategic plan.
  • To act as mentor to Senior Analysts and Analysts to encourage good practice, team spirit and a quality-orientated approach.
Degree of Supervision Required in the job:
  • Work with minimal supervision
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

Education:
  • Degree in finance and accounting or business studies, Computer Science, Information Technology; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent
Working Experience:
  • 5 years of working experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Information Systems and Information Analysis and minimum 2 years of experience in Finance/Controlling task supporting business units
  • Experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
  • Experience and familiarity with BI technologies or business analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau
  • Understanding of database management system, SQL Server setup, SQL Database Design/Construction, SQL script, ETL framework. Other databases experience would be a plus
  • Skills and experience in MS Excel, Visual Basic, VBA scripting and other programming languages
  • Experience working with SAP, BW data applications is an added advantage
