The Role Responsibilities

The role of the Business Risk Manager -Governance is to partner and support the FM Conduct and Control team to proactively identify, quantify, prioritise and mitigate operational risks, improve risk controls and maintain focus on operational excellence and sustainable solutions. Focus products would be electronic communication and surveillance for FM Front Office Staff.

Risk Remediation

  • Accountable for ensuring risks identified are bona fide and articulated precisely and in the right context.
  • Accountable for ensuring proposals for improvements to internal controls are balanced with organizational objectives and capabilities.
  • Accountable for leading the work with the Group Process owners (GPO) and Risk Framework owners (RFO) on the execution of the remediation plan, the design of control and control monitors to remediate the identified risks. Ensure new controls and monitors are tested in BAU.
  • Accountable for providing all evidence as required to the RFO and Audit teams to validate the closure of the identified risks.
Risk Management
  • Accountable for managing the operational risk for the entire life cycle of the Financial Markets business. Ability to connect the themes and issues across the products, functions and locations.
  • Accountable for monitoring control execution trends and internal/external events to proactively identify non-financial risks. Identifies sources of risks through changes in the external environment, new regulation, new products, changes to business strategy, incidents, reviews and other measures of control effectiveness.
  • Accountable for performing reviews and assesses risk metrics (losses, near miss incidents, control effectiveness data in order to identify top themes and trends.
  • Accountable for driving end to end risk assessment initiative to proactively identify and remediate control weaknesses.
  • Accountable for maintaining a comprehensive insight into the current and emerging profile.
  • Accountable for evaluating the appropriateness of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s frameworks for governance, risk and control.
  • Responsible for contributing to the development of risk-oriented culture within the organization.
  • Accountable for ensuring that when processes change, controls and monitors are fit for purpose and redesign where necessary.
  • Accountable for periodically reviewing controls and ensuring they are fit for purpose, rationalizing risks and control monitors where possible.
  • Accountable for leading the design and implementation of new controls and monitors required to fulfill new internal policy/regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for leading the completion of RCSAs for respective processes within the FM Top Risks.
Risk Escalation
  • Accountable for completing high quality and timely risk documentation - top risk profiles, residual risk assessments, risk treatment plans for material risk events elevated residual risk treatment plans, management action plans, risk committee papers.
Audits
  • Accountable for coordinating various global internal/external audits/reviews and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information is provided.
  • Accountable for tracking actions against audits / reviews and reporting the status of these actions periodically to the appropriate governance forums, to ensure timely closure.
  • Accountable to deconflict the reviews from three lines of defence.
Governance
  • Accountable for ensuring the effective running of committees
  • Accountable for performing policies and standards Business Impact Assessment.
  • Accountable for defining FM guidance for the implementation of newly released or revised policies and frameworks.
  • Accountable for coordinating the Monthly Performance and Quarterly Performance reviews on risk matters
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Proactive in seeking regular assurance that the Group Business Risk Management teams are performing to an acceptable control assessment standard as per the defined Enterprise Risk Management Framework / Operational Risk Types Framework.
  • Lead the team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Conduct Principles.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders

FM Business Heads, FM Group and Regional COO teams, FM Functional Heads, FM Compliance, FM MT.

Other Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing a strong working relationship across all FM risk and risk ops teams and locations.
  • Responsible for leveraging the opportunity provided by Corporate Social Responsibility to enhance the Group\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external reputation and indirectly influence the bottom line.
  • Responsible for promoting the Group\xe2\x80\x99s brand and Here for good with employees, clients and regulators.
  • Responsible for performing other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining effective communication with key stakeholders, and staff.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: University
  • Professional qualifications related to accountancy or business an advantage
  • Domain expertise for Financial market products
  • 8+ Years of relevant Experience
  • Having worked in a large multinational Financial Institution
Experience in a Risk function designing controls and monitoring business risks, internal audit or operational risks.
