Main Tasks and targets
Buyer is responsible for procurement of materials as well as continuous management of the MRP signals between Comet and suppliers.
Tasks/Responsibility
Place Purchase Orders for direct materials per requirements driven by MRP
Ensure timely uninterrupted materials availability per planning requirements
Work with Planning analyze planning requirements to ensure materials availability for production
Communicate with Supply Chain/Materials managers to review material deliveries to complete work order demands, as required
Review non-compliant issues and order changes and work with manufacturing engineers and supply chain team members to schedule replacements or repairs
Communicate issues with engineering change orders (ECO) and coordinate phasing in of the new revisions.
Issue quotes, in coordination with Supply Chain/Materials Managers
Make sure that Materials Master data and Info records are updated as required
Review MRP open order POs and manage pull-in / push-out signals as required
Respond to all supplier communication promptly
Have regular meetings with the suppliers to maintain strong relationship
Own primary accountability for OTD supplier performance >98%
Own resolution of order and delivery related supplier problems / escalation processes
Provide backup support for other buyers during absence
Conducts quarterly supplier reviews.
Maintains procurement records, reports and metrics
Additional projects may be assigned, as required
Working experience/technical skills/know how
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree preferred
Minimum 5 years Purchasing experience
Microsoft Outlook, SAP and Excel proficiency
Personal skills (Leadership, social skills)
Teamwork approach to work. This includes working with Production, Planning, and Engineering to meet the business needs that exists
Must be comfortable building and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers
Excellent communication (both verbal and written).
High proficiency in English
