Job Description


Position Overview: The Buyer/Purchasing Administrator is part of Insulet Malaysia\xe2\x80\x99s Supply Chain organization, reporting to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain. The Buyer/Purchasing Administrator has two key responsibilities. First, s/he is responsible for traditional buying, mostly of Indirect materials. Responsibilities include dealing with suppliers, converting requisitions to purchase orders, and sending these to suppliers, following up with suppliers to ensure delivery dates are met. Additionally, the Buyer/Purchasing Administrator is responsible for administering Insulet Malaysia\xe2\x80\x99s purchasing system. This includes but is not limited to: requesting onboarding paperwork from suppliers, tracking weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics of supplier performance, managing the open order report. Responsibilities: - Turns requisitions into purchase orders and forwards purchase orders to suppliers. - Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtains recommendations from suppliers for substitute items. - Provides purchasing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. - Monitors shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and traces shipment of undelivered goods. - Resolves shipments in error with suppliers. - Expedites orders when necessary. - Coordinates new supplier set up process as needed. - Trains new local users on use of procurement system - Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items, recommends alternatives as needed. - Performs other duties as required. Education, Experience & Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred; supply chain concentration preferred. - 1-2 years of experience as a Buyer/Planner, preferably in a Medical Device Environment Preferred Skills and Competencies: - Experience with ERP/MRP - Experience with SAP Software preferred. - Proficient in MS Office \xe2\x80\x93 emphasis on Excel - Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities - Cooperative, team player and positive attitude a must - Strong service-orientation - Clear verbal and written communication skills - Multi-language fluency preferred (English, Malay)
