Job Description


A buying manager is responsible for managing the procurement and purchasing of apparel products for a retail business. They work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that the company\'s inventory meets the needs and preferences of its customers while also managing costs and maximizing profits. Responsibilities : Develop and implement a strategic buying plan for apparel products that aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the business. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and manufacturers, negotiating terms and contracts as necessary. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the latest fashion trends and consumer preferences and use this knowledge to inform purchasing decisions. Manage the inventory of apparel products, including forecasting demand, determining appropriate inventory levels, and ensuring timely and efficient replenishment of stock. Analyze sales data to identify trends, optimize pricing, and inform future buying decisions. Work collaboratively with other departments within the company, including marketing, sales, and operations, to ensure a coordinated approach to product development, promotion, and sales. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, manufacturers, and industry partners. Ensure that all purchasing activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Manage the budget for apparel purchasing, ensuring that expenses are within budget and that revenue targets are met. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the buying process. Requirements : Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, fashion merchandising, or a related field. At least 10 years of experience in apparel buying or merchandising, with a proven track record of success. Strong knowledge of the fashion industry, including trends, suppliers, and manufacturers. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform purchasing decisions. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and ownership. Ability to travel domestically and internationally to attend trade shows, visit suppliers and manufacturers, and participate in industry events.
