The Caregiver Cum Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily care needs of elderly residents while ensuring the upkeep and safety of the centre's facilities. This dual-role position requires a compassionate individual who is also skilled in basic maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Caregiving Responsibilities:
Assist residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility).
Monitor and report any changes in the physical or emotional condition of residents.
Support nursing staff in providing care and attending to residents' well-being.
Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
Escort residents to therapy sessions, recreational activities, or appointments within the facility.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor repair works.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, fixtures, and facilities to ensure safety and functionality.
Ensure cleanliness and proper upkeep of common areas, rooms, and surroundings.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Support in setting up furniture, moving items, or assisting during events and facility-related arrangements.
Other Duties:
Follow all safety, health, and hygiene protocols as set by the centre.
Maintain confidentiality and dignity of all residents.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Job Requirements:
Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent.
Prior experience in caregiving, maintenance, or facility support preferred.
Basic knowledge of repair tools, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks (lifting, moving, standing for long periods).
Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with elderly individuals with patience and empathy.
Willingness to work on shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Compassionate and respectful toward the elderly.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
