We carry a broad range of products to make eating well and living well accessible for all our customers. Our Category Managers enable us to do so by developing and executing strategies for their respective product category by sourcing, researching, educating and promoting these products for our customers. As a Category Manager you will be responsible for the development and growth of your product category. A team player, you will be required to build relationships with key department leads and maintain long term vendor relationships to ensure smooth and successful implementation of merchandise and buying objectives. Our ideal candidate needs to utilize data and insights to anticipate industry and consumer trends. The ability to communicate, negotiate and build rapport with people is also a key element we seek out for. Being a start-up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. Responsibilities: The main objective of the role:- Procure the right products at a price that meets the needs of both our customers and vendors. Develop and implement category strategies to drive sales, profitability, improve product mix and quality and enhance overall customer experience. Collaborate with suppliers to secure quality grocery, favorable pricing, product availability, and promotional support. Manage multiple categories, including purchasing, ranging, and category management. Identify, develop and implement range, layout and opportunities that will maximize sales and customer impact. Work closely with retail operations to ensure there is a strong understanding of category plans. Build, manage, and maintain supplier relationships. Contribute to process improvement efforts. Requirements Bachelors degree and minimum 5-6 years\' relevant experience Category Management Experience with food-related knowledge in the retail environment High level of interpersonal, relationship management and team-working experience Strong communication skills both written and verbal and negotiating skills Meticulous and has a keen eye for detail Desire to grow individually and to learn how to best support other team members Dynamic, resourceful and has passion for long-term career Able to multi-task, work in fast-paced environment and has team leadership potential.
