Job Description

A. Electrical System Operation & Maintenance

Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical systems up to 33kV, including switchgears, transformers, substations, MCC panels, and distribution boards.

B. Facility & Utility Maintenance

Oversee the operation and maintenance of facility systems, including but not limited to: HVAC system, Air compressor systems, Lifts & hoists, Plumbing systems, Security systems, Building structure and roof, Lighting systems. Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules (PPM) for all facility and utility equipment. Supervise vendors, contractors, and technicians performing maintenance or repair works. Ensure minimal downtime for administrative facilities through proactive maintenance.

C. Safety & Compliance

Serve as Authorized Person (AP) for 33kV operations and ensure all works are performed safely and in accordance with Electricity Supply Act 1990 and ST regulations. Enforce Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices for all maintenance works. Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSH requirements and internal safety policies. Maintain statutory records, permits, and inspection documents related to electrical and facility systems.

D. Energy & Asset Management

Monitor power quality, load balance, power factor, and energy consumption for optimization. Support energy-saving initiatives and reliability improvement projects. Maintain asset inventory, technical drawings, and equipment history records. Participate in CAPEX/OPEX planning related to facility and electrical systems.

E. Project & Team Support

Participate in new installation, expansion, and upgrading projects for facility and utility systems. Provide technical advice to management on system improvement, energy efficiency, and cost reduction. Train and guide technicians to ensure safe and competent work practices. Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable and continuous power supply for the plant or facility. Plan and handle servicing and calibration for all electrical protection systems (such as protection relays, trip coils, circuit breakers, and earthing systems) to ensure full compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations and requirements. Ensure all electrical systems and installations comply with Electricity Supply Act 1990, Energy Commission (ST) safety standards, and company SOPs. Lead root cause analysis for electrical faults, perform corrective actions, and maintain detailed technical records. Liaise with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and regulatory bodies for load applications, shutdown coordination, inspection, and compliance reporting. Supervise electrical contractors during projects, maintenance, and statutory inspection activities.

Requirements:

Chargeman Certificate of Competency B0 (33kV) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance and facility management, preferably in manufacturing or industrial plant environments. Strong knowledge in high-voltage (33kV) systems, switchgear, and transformer operation. Electrical safety procedures, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance planning. Familiar with Energy Commission regulations, IEE/IEC standards, and OSH guidelines. Strong leadership and communication skills to lead a technical team and coordinate with contractors and vendors. Capable of working independently under pressure and responding to emergency breakdowns or call-outs. Willing to work on-call, during public holidays or off-hours for urgent maintenance. Physically fit to carry out fieldwork, inspections, and equipment handling.
