Job Description

I. JOB PURPOSE

The Chargeman is primarily responsible to ensure that there is no interruption to the supply of electricity, ensure that the school\'s facilities are maintained in a responsible state and condition and in accordance with the statutory requirements. This position reports to the Operations & Facilities Manager on a day to day basis.

II. KEY RESULTS AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Facilities Maintenance

Assist the Facilities Manager in the strategic planning of preventive maintenance.

Supervise and carry out repair and preventive maintenance work according to plan.

Inspect facilities equipment, carry out problem solving and troubleshoot for equipment breakdown or malfunctioning.

Ensure a safe and reliable operation of electrical installation including power transformer and switchgear.

Conduct inspection and testing for all electrical installation, panels, and facilities as per regulatory requirements.

Maintain, service, test and calibrate the switchboard.

Test, check and troubleshoot generator sets as per the required time frame to ensure continuous power supply during power failure.

B. Facilities Improvement and Renovation Projects

Monitor the facilities improvement and renovation works carried out by external contractors.

Carry out minor modification to the physical facilities.

C. Regulatory Compliance

Liaise with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga and other statutory bodies on compliance matters.

Ensure all required licenses or permits pertaining to the installation and use of heavy machineries, mechanical and electrical equipment are obtained, updated and valid.

D. Health and Safety

Perform regular checks on the school facilities to identify health and safety hazards.

Implement action plans to resolve any health and safety hazard identified.

E. Others

Carry out carpentry and plumbing works as and when required.

Provide guidance and training to technicians.

III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

A. MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

Diploma in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Chargeman certificate (A1 and above) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.

B. RELATED EXPERIENCE

At least 5 years experience in electrical engineering work.

At least 3 years post qualifying experience as a Chargeman.

C. COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIOURAL)

Able to carry out wiring work and repairing mechanical & electrical equipment.

Knowledge in LT & HT switches.

Knowledge in electrical installation, fire fighting equipment and maintenance engineering (building and equipment).

Knowledge in statutory regulation related to facilities and M&E.

Possess supervisory skill.

Possess basic computer skills especially in Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Excel)

IT skill - use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Possess good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
