Job Description

The Clinical Instructor is responsible for guiding, supervising, and evaluating students during their clinical placements. The role focuses on helping students translate theory into practice, ensuring safe patient care, and supporting the development of professional competencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possess at least Diploma in Nursing.

Possess current Practice Certificate (PC) for nurses.

Possess a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

For supervision of Community Health Nursing, a Clinical Instructor (CI) without a Post Basic qualification in Public Health Nursing or experience but who hold a Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Midwifery SHALL undergo a three (3) months attachment at MOH Public Health setting.

For supervision of Mental Health Nursing, a CI without experience or Post Basic qualification in Mental Health Nursing, SHALL undergo a three (3) months attachment at MOH Mental Health setting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

STUDENT

Assures that all students fulfill requirements of the clinical practice To teach and to guide the students according to the clinical objectives for each semester Prepares the students for the learning activities and approached specific to the students and course out Mentors the students as a teacher in clinical areas Teach the students all the clinical skills that have been taught in the School of Nursing
ASSESSMENT/MONITORING

To do the running assessment for students Evaluate the students learning in the clinical areas and monitor student abseentism in the clinical areas Prepare duty roster for students and check the students log book time to time on whether the fulfills the skill requirements for the semester Serves as a clinical teacher with the issues of students learning and evaluation in the clinical practices Directly observes the students with clients Immediately available at all times to the students in clinical areas when help is needed for the students Evaluate and questioning and supports student's practice and growth with clinical inquiry and reflective practice Provides ongoing and timely feedback to the lecturers Notify the person in charge if there is any problems with the students safety or well being Checking students log book and make sure they complete the procedures for the given semester Keeping students records and reports eg, MC in the clinical posting and pass to the lecturer in charge once they are back to college To inform the lecturer in charge about the students absenteeism and take action to treat any problems in clinical areas.
PROFESIONALISM

Serves as professional consistent with scope of practice of the registered nurse Provides continuity of direct instructions and supervision to the students as consistent with student learning needs, course objectives and programme outcomes Review with students roles and responsibility of all members of the clinical teaching team that may include clinical teacher preceptor and clinical coordinator Interprets the program goals and learning objectives for the students with the staff at the practice sites
