The Collections Recovery Officer is responsible for managing severely delinquent accounts (211+ days past due) through proactive recovery strategies. This role focuses on negotiating settlements, restructuring repayment arrangements, and coordinating with legal and external agencies to maximize recoveries while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Handle a portfolio of 211+ DPD delinquent accounts, focusing on maximizing recovery.
2. Contact customers via phone, email, and written communication to negotiate settlements or repayment plans.
3. Conduct skip tracing and database searches to locate uncontactable customers.
4. Negotiate settlements, restructuring, or write-off arrangements in line with company policies.
5. Escalate uncooperative or high-risk accounts for legal action or repossession when required.
6. Monitor repayment arrangements and follow up on broken promises-to-pay (PTPs).
7. Prepare accurate daily/weekly reports on recovery performance, settlement status, and account progress.
8. Collaborate with the legal and compliance team to ensure proper documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.
9. Recommend process improvements for handling late-stage delinquent accounts.
Job Requirements:
1. Experience in handling late-stage collections (180+ DPD and above) is highly preferred.
2. Knowledge of legal recovery procedures (court action, write-offs, settlements) is an advantage.
3. Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage a large portfolio efficiently.
4. Familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other laws governing debt collection practices.
5. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. High integrity, resilience, and ability to work under pressure.
7. Able to work independently, with high integrity and resilience.
8. Must be able to exercise critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
9. Willing to travel extensively and work flexible hours when required.
10. Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Education and/or Experience:
1. Minimum SPM in any field (Bachelor's Degree is an advantage).
2. 4-6 years of experience in collections or recovery preferred.
