Responsibilities


Our client is seeking a Compliance & Legal Officer to ensure the company operates within the regulatory frameworks set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CRAA), Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulations, and other applicable financial laws.



This role is critical to upholding corporate governance, mitigating legal risks, and maintaining regulatory compliance across operations. The successful candidate will engage with regulators, auditors, and internal teams to oversee compliance programs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure ongoing regulatory adherence.



Ensure compliance with BNM regulations, AMLA, CRAA, PDPA, Companies Act, and other relevant laws. Monitor and implement updates in response to regulatory changes within the credit bureau, banking, and fintech sectors. Conduct risk assessments and compliance audits to identify and address gaps. Develop and maintain internal compliance programs, SOPs, and policies. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents. Provide legal advice on governance, data protection, and regulatory issues. Liaise with BNM, SC, CCM, and other regulatory bodies as the company's compliance representative. Prepare and submit regulatory filings, compliance reports, and audit documentation. Deliver compliance training programs to employees and promote a culture of integrity.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field. Min 5 years of experience in compliance, legal advisory, or risk management within banking, fintech, credit bureau, or financial services. Strong knowledge of: BNM regulations, Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA), Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CRAA), Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Companies Act & corporate governance practices Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and legal authorities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
