Role Overview
The Construction Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the construction phase of a high-profile data centre project in Malaysia. The successful candidate will ensure that all site activities are executed in accordance with the project programme, budget, quality standards, statutory requirements, and client expectations. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, technical expertise in data centre or industrial construction, and a proven track record of managing large-scale projects for international clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage on-site construction activities for the assigned data centre project, ensuring work is executed safely, on time, and within budget.
Oversee and coordinate the performance of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure adherence to project specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
Implement and maintain effective site management practices in accordance with PMC procedures.
Monitor project progress against the programme, identify potential delays, and implement mitigation strategies.
Manage cost, programme, construction quality, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and materials submissions in compliance with project and statutory requirements.
Ensure full compliance with Malaysian construction laws, regulations, and statutory approvals.
Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the client, consultants, authorities, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
Prepare and submit regular site progress reports, risk assessments, and other project documentation to senior management and clients.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 8-10 years' relevant construction management experience, with at least 3-5 years in data centre or large-scale industrial projects.
Preferred Background: Data centre construction or mission-critical facilities experience is highly desirable.
Education: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of FIDIC contract administration, Malaysian construction practices, and statutory compliance requirements.
