Wood is recruiting for Construction Project Engineers (Security) to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner's Representative team, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-time execution of all construction activities in alignment with Owner standards and project objectives.

The Role
The Construction Project Engineer (Security) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering all physical security systems for new data center builds, expansions, and retrofits. This role ensures that all security infrastructure-access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, perimeter controls, and monitoring systems-are designed, installed, and commissioned according to corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines.
The engineer will work closely with general contractors, security integrators, design consultants, and internal stakeholder groups (Security, Construction, Operations, IT/Network).

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Site Execution
  • Support the development of project scope, design criteria, technical specifications, and security standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and security risk analyses.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP teams, and other trades to ensure proper integration of security infrastructure.
  • Assist in project scheduling, material forecasting, and procurement planning.
  • Develop and maintain material delivery schedules aligned with construction milestones and commissioning requirements
  • Coordinate with Owner, AE, General Contractor, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials
  • Monitor long-lead items and critical equipment to prevent delays
  • Review and validate design drawings for:
  • Access Control Systems (ACS)
  • Video Surveillance Systems (CCTV)
  • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
  • Perimeter security (bollards, gates, fencing sensors)
  • Security Operations Center (SOC) fit-out and equipment
  • Ensure system designs meet corporate security standards, industry best practices, and local regulations.
  • Work with vendors to ensure proper installation, testing, and calibration of all security devices.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and enforce adherence to EHS requirements and regulatory standards
  • Monitor quality of installations and verify compliance with approved Quality Plans
  • Support resolution of non-conformance issues and drive corrective actions
Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Act as the primary on-site liaison between the Owner, AE, General Contractor, subcontractors, and consultants
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings, progress reviews, and issue resolution sessions
  • Ensure timely communication and escalation of risks or deviations to the Project Manager
Schedule & Progress Management
  • Monitor construction progress against approved schedules; identify delays and support recovery planning
  • Validate contractor progress reporting and ensure alignment with actual site conditions
  • Provide accurate updates and reporting to the Owner and project leadership
Documentation & Close-out
  • Maintain accurate site records, redlines, and construction documentation
  • Support punch list management and ensure timely completion of close-out deliverables
  • Assist in preparing handover documentation for commissioning and operations

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project / construction management for large-scale construction projects
  • Relevant OSH Training as per DOSH requirement.
  • Strong site-based leadership experience with exposure to multidisciplinary coordination
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and subcontractors in complex environments
  • Familiarity with quality control, commissioning readiness, and construction close-out processes
