SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • Ensure laboratory technicians on laboratory daily operations and timely execution of testing and reporting of oil and water testing results
  • Implement Laboratory Management System (LMS) for Oil Laboratory
  • Assist in establishing in-house oil testing (insulating and lubricating), set up the required oil testing facilities as per national or international standards and ensure adequate facilities are in place for satisfactory operation of the laboratory
  • Prepare purchase requisition including chemicals, laboratory consumables, instrument spare parts related to laboratory activities which include preparing management paper/reports/presentations to management for the new projects or acquisition of new equipment/instruments
  • Conduct study and development on standard methods, analysis flow and testing procedures related to analytical testing and instruments
  • Maintain all internal record related to analysis, instruments and lab activities including update test methods and documentation for QA/QC as well as research activities
  • Maintain and update HSE and any other related laboratory safety policies from time to time
  • Handle multiple types of scheduled wastes generated from lab activities as per Environment Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005
  • Liaise with internal stakeholder concerning any work-related matters such as providing technical support in insulating & lubricating oil sampling and training to regions & power stations staff and etc.
  • Ensure laboratory safety and regulations and necessary precautions and requirements are met, ensuring that laboratory and equipment are kept clean and tidy, including checking equipment for safety and advising technician staff/ trainees of safety aspects of particular experiments.
THINKING ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES (PROBLEM-SOLVING):
  • Familiar with chemical laboratory safety practices situations, policies and regulations
  • Possesses knowledge of MS ISO/IEC 17025 requirements of laboratory management system which includes development of equipment calibration and maintenance program, QA/QC procedures, measurement uncertainty estimation and method validation & verification procedures
  • Competent person of Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) would be an added advantage
QUALIFICATION:
  • Recognized Bachelor\'s, Master\'s degree in chemistry or an equivalent professional qualification with minimum 4 years working experience in field related to chemical laboratory testing or dealing with various oil testing instruments/equipment
  • Registered with Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) with ChM title
