Job Title Control Assurance Manager - Private Capital Services



What will you do?

  • Ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory policies by implementing and monitoring operational processes.
  • Exercises authority over personnel with respect to employment, supervision, training, performance appraisals, and termination.
  • Develops strategic plans and procedures for managing investment risk in financial transactions.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and process improvement initiatives to improve the operational efficiency of a given investment unit.
  • Through participation in working groups and other forums, support the shared objectives of Client Operations, Malaysia
  • Establishing and monitoring standards for PCS TM and TA processes from a quality assurance perspective.
  • Leading on review and audit of PCS TM and TA processes and controls to verify quality as well as compliance with applicable procedures and standards; providing relevant managers with results.
  • Perform analysis on internal and external errors to identify process and control gaps.
  • Participating in establishing plans, standards, and procedures to minimize operational errors.
  • Improving quality assurance procedures and standards to fit organization\'s needs and verifying practicality of controls being applied.
  • Perform regular and periodic control checks on process with High severity risk rating.
  • Ensure proper governance and monitoring of departmental L3 RCSA.
  • Develop and deliver process improvement initiatives to enhance quality and strengthen control.
  • Ensure that all procedures are documented and regularly maintained.
  • Ensure all mitigation actions at the back of risks event are tracked and closed on timely manner.
  • Formulate appropriate training module and assessment framework to ensure PCS FA team are operating with optimal competency level.
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Extensive experience in the Financial industry with good business acumen, in which includes sound technical knowledge/experience in the Securities Services industry which typically encompass the Private Equity and Real Estate.
  • Good combination of technical knowledge on the market practise for transactions & market settlements (Custody) and Transfer Agency
  • Knowledge of fund accounting standards would be an added advantage
  • Experienced in managing project implementation and understanding the natural progression of a project (from Planning to Implementation)
  • Experienced in implementing change management strategies and knowledge of change management principles would be advantages
  • Experience in managing a small team will be an advantage
  • Sound planning and organization, management skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process
  • Confidence handling of Change management
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage ambiguity
  • People (direct report if any) & Stakeholder Management
  • 5-8 Years of similar experience.

  • Good networking and client relationship
  • Computer literacy
  • Independent, confident, self-motivated, pro-active and mature;
  • Willing to take on new challenges and work under pressure.
  • Macro / VBA / Coding skills will be an advantage.
  • Change Management certification or designation is desire
  • Solid knowledge of Project Management or PMP certified is an advantage
  • Accredited in Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology will be an added advantage
Job Summary What is the opportunity?

RBC Investor & Treasury Services Malaysia is a processing center of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographical time zones. Malaysia is one of two operational processing hubs that supports Custody - Transaction Management; Settlements; NAV Production; Fund Reporting; Shareholder Services; Global Fund Platform Services; Data Service Delivery; Entitlements \xe2\x80\x93 income and corporate actions and Reconciliations. The country employs a Global Operating Model to maximise efficiencies across times zones and supports a 24/5 operational capability. The objectives for Malaysia are to enhance the scalability of our global operations, improve service quality via our \xe2\x80\x98centres of excellence\xe2\x80\x99 and to implement/leverage standard processes globally.
The Control Assurance will act as an independent governance unit reporting directly to the Associate Director of PCS TM. It is a sole-contributor role but yet required strong stakeholder management skill to work with all parties to ensure full cooperation from the production teams.
Due to the nature of business where it is fully manual and has high risk processes (cash processing), 50% of the job mandate for the role would ensure effectiveness of the controls adopted in PCS TM and TA teams by conducting regular and periodic assurance check, process review as well as process improvement in order to maintain a healthy operating environment. They are also to ensure all processes are well documented in the Process Document, conduct regular and periodic review of the same, and ensure timely update whenever there are changes made.
In addition, Control Assurance also need to manage and implement a wide range of tasks, including technical support, process improvements, global and local projects, testing, designing and delivering technical training. They are also responsible for reviewing and addressing all the risks and control gaps and ensure that the company governance frameworks are adhered to.
