You will act as the company's in-house legal advisor, handling complex land, property, and corporate matters while working directly with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Legal & Corporate Advisory
Provide timely and accurate legal advice on property development, land acquisition, SPAs, tenancy agreements, and construction-related contracts.
Partner with internal business units to ensure compliance and smooth execution of projects.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with key regulations including the
Sabah Land Ordinance
,
National Land Code
,
Strata Management Act
, and
Housing Development Act
.
Monitor legal developments and advise management on potential impacts.
3. Contract Management
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as SPAs, JVAs, tenancy agreements, consultancy agreements, and construction contracts.
Safeguard the company's interests while maintaining professional partnerships.
4. Land & Government Liaison
Liaise with land offices and authorities on land conversions, subdivisions, and title matters.
Work closely with external solicitors on caveats, encumbrances, and related issues.
5. Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support
Manage legal disputes, including land, contractual, and defect liability issues.
Support and coordinate with external counsel in litigation and arbitration proceedings.
6. Corporate Governance
Oversee company secretarial matters and ensure compliance with statutory filings and governance standards.
Support board and shareholder matters where required.
What We're Looking For
LLB (Bachelor of Laws)
and admission to the Malaysian Bar.
3-6 years post-qualification experience, ideally in property, real estate, or construction law.
Strong knowledge of Malaysian land law and property-related regulations.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver results under pressure.
