Objectives of the Position

In the area of Preferential Management, the two main objectives are adherence to compliance regulations according to the national Customs laws and the optimized utilization of Free Trade Agreements in Asia/Pacific. BASF is committed to compliance and hence cannot risk any fine or penalty due to incorrect preferential Origin. In the role, the collection of Long-term or single Supplier Declarations is one basis for the determination of the Preferential Origin status of a product. Additional key data such as Product recipe\'s and sales prices are needed to perform the calculation and to be able to provide the Free Trade Certificate or Origin Declaration for BASF Customers and Intercompany business.

Main Tasks

• Responsible to manage, direct, coordinate, and conduct analysis of all products subject to the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to which the Asia Countries are parties and prepare and maintain data and documentation required by these FTAs.
• Collaborate, coordinate and recommend best practices with BU senior leadership, Customs Country Experts as well as the Management Team in Customs to ensure FTA processes are optimized and supported in the global KPI report.
• Participate and support the Management Team to organize the Preference Management regular meetings and align cost and KPI measures
• Responsible for the solicitation of data and documentation, such as FTA certificates and long-term supplier agreements, from BASF suppliers in order to obtain cost avoidance status for the various BU\'s and BASF legal entities.
• Responsible for communication with BASF customers and business units to ensure that FTA responses and requirements are met
• Responsible to assist the Management team with additional duty management opportunities for the Customs organization, both regionally and globally

Requirements

Prior Professional Experience

• Experience in Customs and/or Foreign Trade law
• Knowledge about Preferential Origin and Free Trade Agreements
• Know how on Products and Markets is desirable

Technical Skills

• Strong communication and argumentation skills
• Analytical thinking
• Structured work organization
• Strong teamwork competence
• Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems and SAP GTS

Foreign Languages

• English (fluent in spoken and written)
• Local language (if required)
