Job Purpose: The Data Center Infrastructure Management Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of hardware and cabling infrastructure in a Data Centre environment. Playing Customer Support role in Data Centre operations this position will also provide support to colocation customers in equipment handling, installation, and basic maintenance. This position will perform rack/unit management ensuring best parameter utilization in terms of space/power aligning it to environmental conditions. Qualification & Requirement: Associate degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent work experience. 2+ years of experience in data center operations or related field Knowledge of hardware installation and maintenance, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment Familiarity with cabling installation and termination, including fibre and copper cables. Experience working with measurement equipment related to fibre and copper cables. Experience with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and cabling issues. Strong computer skills in terms of Office application, CAD/Visio drawings Problem-solving skills- identify, evaluate, and implement solutions to complex problems. Ability to read and prepare project documentation, network diagrams. Knowledge of the IP networking, TCP/IP protocols. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Flexibility to work on-call and outside of normal business hours, as needed. Able to start work immediately. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, up to 25 kg. Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces. Ability to work in a noisy and fast-paced environment. Main Responsibilities: Perform rack/unit management, ensure rack power load is within the limits, equipment has sufficient cooling. Perform relevant rebalancing if required. Manage Data Centre rack/equipment inventory, ensure all equipment labelled, data is in line with inventory database, update inventory upon equipment in/out shipment. Install, configure, and maintain hardware infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment. Perform cabling installations, terminations and cross-connect, including fibre and copper cables. Liaise with contractors and other professional staff during IT projects implementation and 3rd party integration. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and cabling issues, including diagnosing problems, replacing faulty components, and testing equipment. Assist colocation customers with equipment handling, installation, and basic maintenance. Manage inventory of hardware and cabling components, including tracking usage and ordering replacements Maintain accurate documentation of hardware installations, configurations, and changes. Maintain accurate documentation of cabling, termination and cross-connects. Work closely with other data center personnel to ensure proper functioning of the data center infrastructure. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support. Perform proactive/reactive maintenance/updates/upgrades or IT service change as per Companys Change Management Policy in relation to colocation service. Troubleshoot and restores services as per Companys Incident Management Policy Contribute to budget (CAPEX/OPEX) planning process in terms of tools, cables and accessories forecasting in terms of Data Center operations. Ensure that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to. Follow Companys IT and Data Center policies. Achieve targets set by line manager within guidelines established by the DC facilities Manager.
