About the team
Global Fraud Solution (GFS): Data Analytics Team
The Data Analytics team is a dynamic group of client-focused experts dedicated to delivering Enterprise Fraud Detection and Prevention solutions using advanced analytics and AI/Machine Learning mainly in the financial crime domain. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and service excellence, the team operates in a fast-paced environment where cross-functional engagement and continuous learning are key. The Role
As a Data Scientist at GBG across APAC and EMEA regions, you will serve as the critical technical liaison between our proprietary machine learning platform and our enterprise clients. You are an expert in model development and evangelise new analytics, as well as a trusted advisor who leads customers through complex solution deployments and remains engaged to ensure long-term success.
You will also work in conjunction with Presales/Business Development and Customer Support teams, at different stages of the sales cycle, to support closing of deals. These blended responsibilities offer a unique opportunity to make measurable impact across high-profile client engagements.
What you will do
Lead ML implementation projects from kick-off to go-live, including determining machine learning integration that fits each customer's unique business workflow.
Create customer-specific documentation and run training sessions to ensure non-technical customers can effectively use our platforms.
Conduct periodic model monitoring and fine-tuning post-implementation and help customers get the most value from our solution.
Provide technical support to the Presales/Business Development team, which may include product demonstration and/or execution of POC (Proof of Concept) with presentation of POC results.
Interface with customers and internal stakeholders within the business to understand analytical requirements and opportunities.
Research advanced analytical approaches and new machine learning algorithms to solve problems in the detection and prevention of financial risk.
Contribute to the productisation of new analytical features through prototyping and testing.
Troubleshoot product issues and collaborate with Engineering, Product and Customer Service teams in resolving those issues.
Continuously develop skills, competencies and knowledge, as well as share best practices with the wider team.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Data Scientist, with proven track record in similar technical consulting or client engagement roles.
Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and libraries (pandas, numpy, etc.).
Experience handling real-world data and predictive modelling using supervised learning (Logistic Regression, Gradient Boosting, Random Forest, etc), and unsupervised learning (Isolation Forest, Local Outlier Factors, K-Means, etc).
Understanding of evaluation and explanation techniques in machine learning, e.g. Precision, Recall, F1-Score, and the trade-off between these metrics, as well as model overfitting, bias, cross-validation, LIME, SHAP, etc.
Knowledge of model calibration techniques (Platt Scaling, Isotonic Regression).
Knowledge of techniques in handling imbalanced dataset and monitoring feature and data drifts.
Work on-site at the clients' offices on project basis as required. This may include locations out of Malaysia.
Ability to work independently by prioritising workload, and as part of a team to achieve set objectives.
Effective communication and the ability to present complex subjects coherently to diverse audiences comprising non-technical and technical professionals.
Good oral and written communication skills in English, with attention to detail (any additional languages would be an advantage).
Resilient, resourceful, and highly adaptable.
Good to have experience in compliance and fraud risk management.
Good to have experience with MLOps, Real-time Feature Engineering pipeline.
