JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Database Administrator (AusDBA/RID16809) - Cassandra System Administrator (Database Administrator)

Job Purpose:

To collaborate and support Head of DB Services in the day-to-day Cassandra databases operations to ensure services are available and online within defined SLA / OLA with optimal performance.
Management and administration of RDBMS includes monitoring database services availability, performance tuning and capacity management, troubleshoot issues/errors and provide resolutions, installation and configuration, database recovery, ensure database integrity and security.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise on monitoring, tuning, backup/restore, migration, and support for Cassandra databases.
Help design, configure, and maintain a Cassandra cluster, including Datastax products.
Provide technical expertise for BAU, enhancement projects and project implementation on database infrastructure
Manage internal new projects/initiatives which is medium to large scale to achieve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness aligned with IT transformation initiatives
Implement database security and encryption following the defined hardening standards
Develop and improve database domain checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that conform to policies and procedures for daily operation and support tasks for standardization and excellent service delivery
Provide remote and on-site support 24 x 7 for critical situations
Perform and review periodic capacity planning and monitoring on databases
Assists with compliance audits as required in achieving above satisfactory rating
Perform diagnosed root cause of system with poor performance in order to improve the system performance.
Develop, maintain and review documents for database domain to ensure quality and precise documentation relating to database architecture and inventory.
Perform RDBMS patches or bundled patches in a timely manner according to guidelines provided by IT security to keep database environment secure and operating at top efficiency.

Job Specification:

Qualifications (Basic Degree/Diploma etc.):

University degree Bachelor\'s Degree/ Diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent.

Professional Qualification and/or Regulatory, Licensing requirements:

Cassandra Certified Administrator preferred
Certification in ITIL V3 is an added advantage

Relevant Work Experience:

At least 5 years experiences in Cassandra database maintenance and administration.

Required Competencies and Skills:

Technical/ Functional skills:

In depth of knowledge of various Cassandra (Apache, Datastax) and operating System architecture and concepts, including performance tuning and capacity management, database recovery, clustering, mirroring and replication.

Personal skills:

Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise
Possess critical Thinking & Problem-Solving : Able to evaluate alternatives and finds solutions with thoughtful analysis.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in many mediums includes listening skills and the ability to follow directions and provide feedback
Possess strong work ethic complete tasks on time.
