Role Description This is a full-time on-site Database Specialist role located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Database Specialist will be responsible for Database Administration, Database Design, Data Modeling, Analytical Skills, and Databases. They will maintain database performance and availability by identifying and resolving production and application development problems, installing upgrades, and verifying backups. The Specialist will also be responsible for data modelling and database design. Experience : 5+ years Responsibilities Provision MYSQL/MSSQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases. Prepare documentations and specifications. Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc. Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak, as necessary. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders. Skills and Qualifications 5 to 8 years of related experience Strong proficiency in MYSQL/MSSQL database management Experienced in AWS/Azure platform. Decent experience with recent versions of MYSQL/MSSQL Understanding of MYSQL/MSSQL underlying storage engine Experience with replication configuration in MYSQL/MSSQL Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MYSQL/MSSQL Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements. Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications. Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc. Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git / Bitbucket Added value - Microsoft SQL and other RDBMS.
