About the Role - DevOps Engineer Role Overview and Objectives The DevOps Engineer role will work on Datacom\'s SaaS payroll product helping our clients pay more than 150,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand. Our ideal candidate will have a lot of experience working with CI/CD tools, and the ability to develop a solid understanding of infrastructure they will also have a great ability to automate problems and design clean, lightweight processes for the rest of the development team. The primary objective of this role is: 1. Platform Modernisation - the payroll platform is modernized to improve the -ilities (measured by meeting outcomes of platform roadmap) Role Responsibilities The DevOps Engineer is responsible for: Pipeline Management Streamlining the CI/CD process for the development team Designing process which enables delivery of the software quickly, safely, and without much effort Troubleshooting when there are issues with the pipeline Upskilling the development team where need be so that the development teams can approach their tasks with autonomy Infrastructure Management Creating new virtual machines and configuring them for use. This could either be manually or through code Maintaining virtual machines that are owned by the DataPay team Developing tools to monitor the health of infrastructure, and owning this monitoring Responding to situations where there are problems with the infrastructure Developing Writing scripts to automate tasks and reduce manual work. Ensuring all scripts/configurations are protected in source control where possible Managing databases, verifying data integrity, and providing administration Performance tuning, balancing, improvement, automation, and usability Integrating applications and establishing connectivity between systems Analysing Analysing technical requirements and identifying how they relate to the guidance Assisting in the creation of technical and functional specifications Reporting Participating in project meetings Discussing issues to be resolved, reporting progress, setting expectations, discussing priorities throughout the development life cycle Testing / Quality assurance Making sure deliverables are on time and are of a high quality Troubleshooting development and production problems with code you may have contributed across multiple environments and operating platforms. Documenting Creating/maintaining technical documentation, guides, and tools.
