The Digital Media Support Engineer is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of both software and hardware related to digital media, primarily as it relates to video; however, it can span to other digital media such as radio and print media. This role involves troubleshooting and supporting workflow solutions and automated processes, ensuring smooth digital media operations for workflows. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the engineer handles complex support escalations, including system performance, quality issues, and file specifications.
Job Responsibilities:
To be the SME and to set up (as required) end-to-end media workflows for digital (online) destinations.
Perform preventive maintenance, installation, and modification of video and audio systems (including the addition of source format SD/HD)
Maintain the operational status of XR's software digital media infrastructure and ensure optimal system performance.
Assist operations personnel in matters related to video and audio systems (Transcoding, Audio Description, Subtitling, etc)
Endpoint configuration (FTP, Aspera, S3 Link)
Resolve Trouble Tickets (TT) that are escalated from other engineering units or by operational teams, including speaking to clients to provide advice and to trouble shoot their workflow issues
Perform proactive monitoring of the system performance end to end to ensure compliance with specifications and act accordingly immediately as per the SOP when required.
Ensure all workflows are documented and up to date in the Knowledge Repository (Confluence)
Hire-In Requirements (in priority order):
Deep technical experience using video and audio equipment and software, including video and audio encoding and compression expertise and quality control, within a content production environment (like film, advertising, etc)
Strong knowledge and ability of transcoding and file creation techniques to given specs, including knowledge (to scripting level) of transcoding software such as Vantage, Cambria, FFMPEG, etc.
Good understanding of containers, codecs, encoding formats and current accessibility features
Knowledge in database system (SQL & MYSQL), SQL scripting, backend testing and APIs
Bachelor's degree in film technology, broadcast engineering, video/digital or electrical engineering, digital or video production or a related discipline (preferred)
Experience with one or more of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365ft, SQL Server, AWS, antivirus, and Windows/Linux servers.
