The Opportunity

Global High Net Worth (GHNW) is a team responsible for the sourcing and onboarding of global HNW customers to the Enterprise through a global distribution and operations team. They will also play a role in the onboarding of the customer within the chosen BU. Our focus will be to ensure we are a future-ready organization that provides the global customer a \xe2\x80\x98white-glove\xe2\x80\x99 experience expected by our distribution partners and their private bank customers, and one that works in harmony with the BUs and their other channels.

Responsibilities

Lead the Finance Department

  • Develop talent - Attract and develop talent based on an understanding of current and future business needs.
  • Build team effectiveness - Build and empower teams based on diversity of thought and skills to maximize capabilities and outcomes.
  • Lead the change - Share information, inspire teams and lead by example as work together through change.
Accounting and Reporting
  • Oversee finance operations including accounts payable and receipts and bank reconciliations
  • Accurate and timely submission of local reporting and compliance with local regulatory requirements, including statutory returns, tax reporting, and audited financial statements.
  • Oversees the Canadian-IFRS accounting and reporting.
  • Ensure that the company\xe2\x80\x99s accounting system comply with the relevant legislations and meet the regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the accounting policies adopted for the preparation of the company\xe2\x80\x99s accounts comply with the relevant legislations and accounting standards.
  • Oversee unit pricing and fund administration function.
Budgets, Forecasts and Strategic Plans
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of business plan annually, including the budgeting process.
  • Co-ordinates information from various departments and ensuring that plans and forecast and submitted on time.
  • Monitor the actual results during the year and prepare forecasts of full year results on a quarterly basis.
  • Analyze and report company\xe2\x80\x99s financial activities to local management, regulators, and corporate/regional office.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of Monthly Management Report and other regional reports.
Expense Management
  • Ensure that controllable expenses and Production Related Expenses are monitored and seeks to influence cost center owners to keep within their budgets.
  • Review initiatives from Marketing and Distribution and provide feedbacks to improve efficacy of the initiatives, as well as carry out post-mortem on initiative results for future improvement.
  • Expense management through Hire and Spending Oversight Committee, expense reviews, tracking and reporting.
  • Monitor benefit realization from investments in technology and projects.
External Audits
  • Co-ordinate external audits and regulatory reviews.
Procedures, Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Ensure that internal controls are adequate.
  • Ensure that there is compliance with local regulations with respect to financial issues and accounting.
  • Maintain proper documentation of the accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance of the procedures and internal control by the Finance team
Continuous improvement in process and procedures
  • To drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
Treasury management
  • To manage cash flow liquidity of various life funds and shareholders\xe2\x80\x99 fund.
  • To work with Investment Management team on investment asset allocations.
Projects
  • IFRS 17 implementation
Shared Responsibilities
  • Financial reporting with Actuarial

  • Treasury cash flow liquidity management with Investment
  • Procurement spending with Procurement function

What we are looking for
  • Post-secondary education preferred and/or equivalent and relevant work experience
  • Education/Training - Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Accounting
  • Experience - At least 10 to 15 years of accounting experience with at least 8 years in managerial position
  • Professional/Trade Qualification \xe2\x80\x93 CPA or ACCA
  • Exceptional priority management with ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • Proven leadership skill
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of insurance regulation as they relate to the statutory and financial reporting
  • High level understanding of actuarial valuation principles
  • Actively pursue opportunities for development of self and team.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with actuarial team, investment team, auditor and regulator.
  • Keep current and up to date with the changing compliance and insurance regulatory environment.
  • Identify Operations problems, recommend solutions and assist in implementation of change including manual updates
  • Computer Proficiency \xe2\x80\x93 Ms Office
