The Penang design team will work closely with our global design engineering teams in developing leading-edge Hardware Platform Solutions in Networking, Storage, and server solutions from general-purpose to customized Cloud, AI, machine learning, Edge, and 5G deployments. We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven candidate qualified for the position of Director, Mechanical Engineering to manage the market-leading Mechanical Design Group. The successful candidate will lead a design and development group and will be responsible for engineering assignments related to hardware products as well as systems including the development of new products, updates to existing products, or sustaining current products. The candidate will be working closely with Product Marketing, Procurement, and Software teams to drive product definitions. Detailed Description Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team to develop the mechanical systems and subsystems for server/storage/switch products, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, on cost, and on committed quality to meet internal and external customers\' expectations. Own the strategic planning, direction, and day-to-day execution of mechanical engineering efforts across the entire product lifecycle from feasibility study and conceptual design to mass production. Maintain talents and help team members\' growth and development with committed support to benefit the organization Recruit and develop talents with the right skills for success. Update and develop procedures for continuous improvement on efficiency and quality. Provide subject matter expertise in technical engineering and share knowledge with team members, support the mechanical engineering team\'s capabilities and continuous growth both on technical skills and soft skills. Budget and resources planning and management. Direct team members\' objective setting and do performance assessment. Provide technical and leadership support to hot issue root cause and solving. Build up meaningful relationships with customers, vendors, manufacturing sites, and others to help business growth. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Bachelor degree or above in mechanical engineering Min. 15+ years of working experience in electromechanical product mechanical design, server/storage/switch product design experience is required Proven technical leadership experience. Experience with managing mechanical design engineering teams, 5+ years of managing mechanical design engineering teams in server/storage/switch products. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals Strong knowledge of material property, manufacturing process, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and failure analysis. Experience in sheet metal, plastic, machining, die-casting, extrusion, cable, and PCBA design. Strong knowledge of different types of tooling. Experience in and thorough understanding of environmental testing and qualification (thermal, vibration, earthquake, etc.) Experience in volume production experience, DFM/DFA/DFT/DFX, cost budgeting, and estimation Experience with mechanical design and analysis software tools. Creo is a must. Outstanding written and oral communication skills Strong leadership, problem-solving, and planning skills Business travel possible (including oversea travel) Physical Demands Typical Experience Min. 15+ years working experiences in electromechanical product mechanical design, server/storage/switch product design experience is required Proven technical leadership experience.
